Re: highway code

It's all very well changing the rules but it's not very well communicated to those that need to know about them?
Didn't we ought to get a letter from DVLA advising of the changes, like we do with changed conditions of bank accounts.

Re: highway code

Trouble is we're not considered or allowed to have common sense anymore - it went out of favour years ago, no need for it now. I was taught how to safely cross the road and how to ride a bike safely. It's worked for me all these years as I can cross roads without causing drama and having the sense n...

I think changes like that are best not publicised! Pedestrians will be walking into the roads like lemmings.

Re: How to refit outer headlight bezel?

I fitted 2 new metal bowls, which I had powder coated, and new chrome bezels they have always been a pig to fit.
I have resorted to a narrow scraper to ease the bezels over the chrome rim! Okay once on!

Re: 2 wheels good, 4 wheels bad?

Pulling out of a turning after dark I noticed one coming towards me in the road with no lights and as we know they can travel at a decent speed. Didn't come past me, veered across the road up the pavement down a walkway.
Going to be a lot more of this.

Re: Rear Wing Beading

I didn't actually 'seal' mine, I treated all surfaces that were to be bolted together with a wax inhibitor (dinitrol or waxoil?) and let it set for a day or so before bolting it all up.
Only downside I have found is the piping at the front of the offside rear wing squeezes out in the sun!

Re: Toe-in measurement

When I changed track rod ball joints on a previous vehicle I used 2 lengths of square section mild steel (straight) held against the wheel rims with bungees and measured the distance between them at about 5 foot from the wheels. Changed one joint and adjusted it to obtain the previous measurement, o...

Re: Front suspension torque settings

I've never found/looked for torque settings and only ever used common sense? When I got the Morris many moons ago I found one of the wheelnut studs was stretched unbelievably - the pitch between adjacent threads were about 4 times greater! Incredible, must have been at giving way. I saved it as a re...

Re: Prop shaft grease nipple

Don't some uj's have screws in place of grease nipples that need to be exchanged for greasing?
So if you have a screw in there it might not be that obvious.

I seem to remember when I was with a previous insurer (Footman possibly) that the car needed to be garaged and locked when inside overnight.

Mine runs out Tuesday, I'm with RH Specialist. £250 for the Morris, agreed at 9K and my 1990 Cavalier CD.
Was going to phone around but did that last year and this year it went up £13 so will go with it.
