Re: Lonely Mog

I've no idea whether it's true or not - probably is, even though it does seem very odd but it's a story that keeps getting 'recycled' every few months!

It might have been true when I first saw it about a couple of years ago, I think........ but who knows now?

Re: Window weather strips

Pretty much what S/P said. From memory, it's necessary to remove the window stops, so that the glass drops well below the door top when fully wound down. You don't mention if it's a 4 door if you're working on. If so, the rear doors are a bit trickier than the fronts, as the glass doesn't wind down ...

Re: Spotted today.

Ok, not spotted today exactly but rather last Sunday, while we were on holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. In Grassington my wife and me stumbled across a '40s weekend' with lots of period stuff about (wartime memorabilia, dancing, music etc.) plus a small collection of classic cars and commercials........

Re: Moggy traveller seat blocks

I can't say that I've noticed my blocks moving whilst actually on the move.....but I supposed they must have done, as quite often when I used to get back in the car I noticed that the seat had tipped back slightly again. I say 'used to' as I have now bound some black electrical tape around the seat ...

Re: Bargain tyres?

I'm no tyre expert by any means but by common consent, there is certainly a view that 10 years is about the limit before potentially dangerous and unseen degradation can take place. A quick 'Google' search throws up all manner of websites on this subject. Here are just a couple:- https://www.kwik-fi...

Re: Bargain tyres?

My car, when I bought it about 4 years ago had a set of Firestones on, all with loads of tread BUT when I started looking into it I found that Firestones of my particular tyre size (just on standard rims btw) hadn't been imported into the UK for over 20 years!! I tried to 'carbon date' the age of th...

Re: What's it worth?

I like the idea of a 'What's it worth?' section but, at best, it could only ever be a 'guide price' area. As you have identified, Chief, it's all to do with supply and demand. At any auction anywhere in the world, if 2 or 3 people really want a particular lot, the price paid is likely to go through ...

Re: Ebay

These listings are out and out scams. Don't touch 'em with an extended barge pole! :D They appear and reappear every week or so. Why eBay can't take them down immediately is beyond me. As I said in a similar post some time ago, a pal of mine needed to sell his beehive + bees, which he put on eBay qu...

Re: Do you guys feel safe driving your Moggy??

There's a thread running elsewhere on here about recent Highway Code changes on which I have posted about being a cyclist, as well as a motorist. One thing I can say for certain is that I feel a lot safer in my Moggy than I do on my bike! That's not to say I feel particularly unsafe when cycling, be...

Re: highway code

For me, absolutely nothing has changed with these new HC rules. When I'm out on my bike, I will treat all drivers as irresponsible idiots.......and when I'm driving, you've guessed it......I will treat all cyclists as irresponsible idiots! When I'm a pedestrian wanting to cross the road, I will look...

Re: Social Media content

I think I'm very much with you, Berni. Soc Med (by that I mean F/B, as it's the only one I have any association with) and forums like this, are really 2 different beasts. F/B is great for stuff of general interest and pointing people in the right direction to try and solve a problem but, as you say,...

Yes. I think that the majority of us would much rather you stayed Mike and keep doing what you're doing. I regard all this as good news :D. Well done - and I wish you good luck finding further help. Wot 'e said!! My sentiments, to the letter, MM. It makes a change for there to be an outbreak of com...

All worked for me.
Biggest problem I had was remembering which Board this post was on  since I always use the 'New Posts' link, so when I logged back in that was empty...
Exactly the same for me!!

My p/w reset email came straight away, by the way.

Re: Follow up

At the risk of sounding repetitious, I can only but agree with the sentiments expressed by everyone else on this particular thread. If it's any consolation, my son was a mod on a 'modern' car forum, which had a much younger age demographic than I suspect this one has and he too got flak from members...

On an entirely unrelated note, do you know how to kill a troll?

I thought you had to shove your wand up its nose.
Nah, that's a PCR test you're thinking about. :D Only necessary if you suspect your friendly troll is showing Covid symptoms. :D :D

A question and answer session like this is very good proof of the worth of dedicated sites like this one and why we need to retain them, rather than all decamping to the likes of Facebook. Agreed, Mike. With forums/sites like this, there is record of questions, comments and in most cases, solutions...

Re: Weather Strip Fitting - Rear Four Door.

I agree with the opening sentiments - this job is tricky but by no means impossible. I even managed it on my 4 x door and I'm a definite tinkerer and certainly no mechanic. Sure, the rear doors are more of a problem because the window does not disappear below the door line, even with the 'stop' remo...

Re: club subscription renewal due, do I or don't I?

I personally think the magazine is great quality and I’d pay £32 a year just for it. Club spares is good. I find parent club activity is mostly too far south though and don’t use any of the other advertised benefits. I do think owners of classics need to stick together though so clubs and historic ...
