Car insurance when you die
A friend of ours died recently and when his wife, who was the named other driver on his policy informed the insurance company he had died was told she couldn't drive the morris minor and was left high and dry for transport until she could get a new insurance. Friends saw she was ok and took her to a...

Re: valve cotters
I must admit at my age, 80 , I find it easier to take the engine out with my stacker truck and work on it on the bench. Set tappets, remove sump and clean, check bearings and back in again same day. Good for a couple of years then.!!

Re: Gearbox prices
I think mine looks just as good and is very useful. It has a similar engine, cruises at the legal limit with a bit to spare and does 40 mpg. maybe the engine room is not as polished but I have owned it since 1996 and it is always admired at shows. Maybe if it was reduced to £10000 it would sell!! ga...

Re: 1952 series MM
Usual fix is fit soft iron washers until you can get some good 2nd hand wheels. 45lbs/ft is enough. Depends whether the bolts are unf or bsf.

Re: Water pump fan blades.
We are talking side valve engine I presume? Mine same as Robs with 1 blade, never over heats even on a hot day doing 55mph or idling on slip road., Have you got a heater and is the heater valve open, even if you dont use the heater it helps the circulation at the back of the head.

My tourer is SMM97191 May 1951. It has a painted grill and painted window frames with the square type quarter light window catch, dont forget the korean war was goimg on and chrome was scarce. Morris motors must have had hundreds of spare doors stored in warehouses ready for the production line and ...

I was lucky, my water jacket/ dynamo bracket is cast iron, it was on the car when I bought it in 1970.

Re: Front Swivals and Stub Axle
I modified my early '51 MM in the nineties and put complete Minor 1000 uprights on and everything fitted. I had to machine the stub axles to take the MM bearings and drums, that's all. I changed everything back to original ( engine, gearbox and rear axle in about 2003 and all is well.

Yes Plus Gas or diesel down the studs and patience could be a couple of weeks and keep the studs wet, top up every day. Steel fox wedges help. Hanging up is good as well.

angle grinder to remove head off bolt or a slim spanner to try and lock trapped nut and a lot of release oil. Once rad is out you can get at the trapped nut easier. I think its 3/8 bsf thread.

Intermittent wiper control
Just for info the 1970s one was by Hella Part No. 5WA 001 871 041. I bought one for our Wolseley 1300, same problem, difficult to reach flick switch for the wipers. when we sold the Wolesley we transferred it to the Minor Pickup. Unfortunately you cant fit them to the MM or series 2 Moggy as they ar...

Re: Sidevalve water pump
If you are wanting the water pump to use a heater just mount a Smith's heater motor with a washing machine water pump attached. Mount it on a board on the inner wing and pipe it up to the engine. We ran out MM for 20 years before we got a pump
