Re: Long Range Classics

Quite, I waited a couple of years for a Volvo 145 in the particular colour I wanted to come up, and then I still 'settled' for the later model with a more modern dash (dials and plastics vs strip speedo and veneer). For autos - I saw a lovely Morris Oxford, I think it was, with the leather bench se...

Re: MM/early s2 dash centre

Is it possible to use something like the pictured plastic badge fitting? I lifted the pic from www.bresco.com who sell many types of automotive clips and fixings. They may even have something even closer to the clips you're looking for. Unfortunately they don't sell them in small quantities. General...

Re: Long Range Classics

Been looking at 'Long Range Classics' as well. My days of driving a manual car are coming to an end so I need an automatic. For the same reason I need a car that's good to go. I'm not able to roll around on damp concrete under a car any more. In past years, when they were cheap throw-away cars, I ha...

Does this help? Ipswich 1968. Despite being a B&W picture you can make out white doors and white forward roof section.

Re: Rear Lights

Don't know if the following is of any use: In Ray Newell's book 'Original Morris Minor', the chapter covering the Minor 1000 (1956-62) mentions, on page 56, that, as well as smaller wheel-arch openings, the rear wings have a 'fuller shape'. I interpret this to mean that they are slightly more curvy ...

Re: Limeflower

As you can tell, I'm not a huge fan of Limeflower. Over the years I've had a Marina and a late Minor Traveller, both painted Teal Blue with Limeflower interior. I didn't particularly like the colour combo but beggars can't be choosers! I'm looking for another Marina at present and recently saw an ea...

Although I find the Dark Side's facebook group far more lively and active than their forum, I have tried the latter this morning. Seems to be fine.

Re: Limeflower

Possibly the worst feature of Limeflower was the factory choice of very dark navy blue interior trim as standard... complete with carpet which could turn a nasty shade of patchy brown with wear and fading... 🤔

The things being referred to are rubbish. Aside from looking cheap, they get wrinkly if the tyres are unintentionally run under-inflated.

With the engine, box and axle present, even if untested, it might be a good spares source at least....😉

Re: potential new purchase

Hi Shabskay and welcome to the forum. Speaking as a Series II owner, I'd agree with ManyMinors' comments. The Series II has loads of charm, character and looks rather quirky compared with later versions. BUT they're slow and can't be hurried. It's not just the smaller engine either; the overall gear...

4-door MM project on eBay

I have no connection with this. Noticed it whilst browsing Ebay this morning. Thought it may be of interest.

Re: get you home bodges

Never thought of contributing to this thread. This bodge isn't mine. It was a lecturer at tech college many years ago when I was an apprentice mechanic. He asked us to diagnose a misfire on his Minor 1000, which sounded terrible, had steam coming out of the tailpipe and was barely running. IIRC comp...

Re: cracked tyres

A few years back I purchased a 2nd hand 4x4. It came with a new set of road (not all-terrain) tyres. which were of medium price/quality. 2 years and 20,000 miles later, I had to leave it parked up for six months, during which time all the tyres cracked very badly. Although I take a large pinch of sa...

Re: Limeflower

If I were going for a concours restoration on a car that left the factory with Limeflower paint, then yes - I'd give it a fresh coat of Limeflower. Having said that, whilst I don't dislike the colour, I wouldn't personally change the colour TO Limeflower.... I don't like it THAT much 😁 It's one more...

Re: British Racing Green ?

Charles Ware's website doesn't always quote 'correct' Minor colours. I've seen 'British Racing Green' used to describe 'Almond Green' and 'Dark Green', as well as 1950's Maroon interiors described as 'Mulberry'.

Re: MSL 631 black with red roof

Hi Melissa. I'm afraid I can't help much with your enquiry. According to the DVLA, MSL631 is alive and well. It has recently passed its MOT and is road-legal until June 2020. Just to say... Your post would have been better in the General Discussion section of the message board, under the 'Do You Kno...

Re: trafficators sticking.

Can I also suggest you check the orange lens for damage. I had a sticky trafficator a couple of years back. Turned out the thin end of the lens was cracked and had become slightly misaligned where it slotted into the pivot end of the chrome cover. Some insulating tape wrapped around it was a tempora...

You'll get plenty of suggestions Joe but at the end of the day it's your car, your decision as to what suits your taste.... and your money that's being invested in it too !
