Re: ORION UN21

Orion looks like an aftermarket copy of the original keys. Do you have the number for the key ? It looks like it would be FS*** The key number could be on the heritage certificate if you have one ? A blank from ESM is probably what you need. https://www.morrisminorspares.com/body-inc-panels-trim-c21...

Re: Help needed to identify brake part

I'm pretty sure that's nothing to do with your braking system ! That's a Tecalemit 3 way electro valve- fitted to things like dual fuel tanks or LPG conversions where you switch supplies between tanks.

George, not sure if you got the info re the straps, but I measured mine tonight and the straps are half an inch wide and slightly wider at the fixing point. See photo.

Re: Smiths Auxiliary Water Pump

Hi George

I also recently picked up an auxiliary water pump but without instructions. A friend of mine is going to copy some instructions he has and send them to me. If and when I get them, I'll get a copy to you. No idea when I'll get them. He said 'soon'....

Cheers

Re: Drivers Handbook or Operation Manual?

They're essentially the same thing. Early books seem to be called operation manuals whereas later books for Morris 1000's were drivers handbooks.

Re: old style pictures

You did well to get to sit in it Mike ! You certainly look the part and very period though.

I did manage to get a photo of my car in Droitwich on Saturday night in black and white outside a nice old building and managed to photobomb NWL when the rally ended on Sunday.

I think the answer may be in locating NOS cables. I suspect they'll fit fine.

For those of you who may not have seen it, there's an excellent write up in this weeks Classic Car Weekly - featuring lots of photos and interviews from the rally. Well worth a look and will give you a taste of the rally if you weren't there.

Maybe just needs some fettling - or just some getting used to. As Simmitc says, each one is just slightly different. Well done though, hope you enjoy the new car.

Re: 7 Inch brake shoes

Keep checking autojumbles and eBay. All the new sets of shoes are a black friction material that is glued to the shoe. They give very poor stopping performance, probably related to whatever the new friction material is. I replaced a nearly new set recently with some old stock, riveted on asbestos sh...

Re: tyre prices

That's pretty much the price of tyres these days, I doubt this is a temporary blip sadly. You can get cheaper Toyo tyres from ESM for less, about £80 each. https://www.morrisminorspares.com/wheels-tyres-c94/wheels-tyres-misc-c97/tyre-155-80-14-toyo-radial-p1238587 Have a search on here though for fe...

Slightly off topic, but it seems a few constabularies used panda travellers. The photos below show an Edinburgh registered car and one which I believe is Leicestershire which has an interesting colour scheme.

Re: Fitting an aluminium GB plate to car

I still have some of the old AA pressed plates with either GB or Ecosse on them. Much nicer, stronger and more tactile than what you get now. In the unlikely event that I take one of the cars overseas, I'd chance my arm with one of these.

Re: One for the brave.......

Looks like the engine bay has been completely stripped so I'd imagine the chassis plate is gone. The NMP plate may still be on the tie plate and if the cab isn't totally rotten, the number may still be stamped and legible but no engine number either. Tricky but not impossible to get an age related n...

Re: One for the brave.......

Oddly enough, despite being rotten in the usual places, the cab looks to be in decent order but the rear body is another matter! Certainly not beyond restoration by any means and I'm sure someone will take it on. It's certainly not 1950 though.....
