Re: Traveller roof respray
Whenever I've sprayed cars where for whatever reason the rubbers weren't removed I always lifted the edge and pushed nylon clothes line into the gap which keeps the edge raised so the paint goes underneath. No unsightly overpainted edges.

Re: Genuine lowlight Convertible for sale?
The dealer also acts as an agent to sell privately owned cars.He will sell your car on commission.A couple of years ago I made enquiries about him selling my stag.My point being that he may simply have described it from information provided by its owner.

Thats not bad then. With everflex roof and VAT about £1100.No idea what paying someone to fit it would be though.

Re: Saloon to convertible conversion - Advice and Help
I had one that started life as a 59 saloon.I'm not even sure that the conversion kits are still available. If they are unless you have the skills to do the work yourself I suggest you don't bother. There's a hell of a lot of hours work to do it,repainting is necessary in the areas needing welding,a bo...

The reason they want to remove it may be nothing to do with money.

Re: De-value
To answer the OPs question I don't think removing the plate will affect the price you get for the car.If you've made up your mind to sell and its original plate has a value to you whether its financial or sentimental just do it.

Re: Paint finish
Neither can I Roy.Its the same now although the mass market cars are painted by machine.Thing is the finish now is as almost poor as it was then.Orange peel! You can either leave it like that or do a bit of extra work and get a finish like glass.

Re: Paint finish
You failed to say which type of paint youre using. If youve always been happy with your finish straight out of the gun why change it?I've painted my own cars for over 40 years and have always wet flatted then machine polished.1500 grit is a safer bet to avoid sanding swirls, then Farecla G3,then G10.I...
