Re: Annual Insurance Fun.

I recently insured a 1885 Citroen BX 19 GT, it was cheaper to insure than the 1991 Mini Cooper it replaced :-?

Re: Virtually all electrical system gone.....!

It's a bit late to help you but I had the same issue when I lost all power in my Commer camper on a petrol station forecourt :-( I couldn't work it out but a temporary wire from the battery to the fusebox got me home. Took me ages to work out what the problem was as the ammeter simply failed without...

Re: Progress

I had a GTi many years ago and can confirm on the performance 8) The GT is carbed so about 20HP less than the injected model, still no slouch though as this comparison featuring my car shows.

No problem with spares availability as there a numerous specialist and plenty to choose from on ebay. Interior trim is rare for the Mk1, luckily this is fine.

Re: Progress

When I got my traveller back on the road after the restoration I was amazed as there wasn't so much as a rattle or squeak. Eighteen months later it's loosened up nicely and a few of the old noises are back :D I've got a new (to me) car coming next week to replace the Mini I sold a while back. Legend...

Re: Fuel.

I've mildly modified my engine giving it enough extra umph to pull a 3.7 diff. The longer legs have dulled the performance down but the higher gearing means more relaxed cruising and just about the same economy figures. I have modified my '71 Commer PB camper by fitting a Sunbeam Rapier engine with ...

Re: What is this called and what does it do?

Heater blanking plates maybe or the round one could be a rotor-dip hole blanking plate

Re: What is this called and what does it do?

I think they are called anti-drum door brackets and I was wrong that they touch the outer skin. I found this post about the same item that explains things better.

Re: What is this called and what does it do?

It fits between the inner and outer skins, the rubber buffer against the outer, to to prevent the panels 'drumming'

I did exactly that, trimmed around the top screw and the knob removed.

Hi Shane. I got mine from AME353 (Morris Minor Centre) on ebay a few years ago, I can't see them listed just now but it might be worth giving then a call.

Re: Can you still get cellulose paint?

There might be a branch of Autopaints International near you. I've had no trouble getting it from them plus I have a body shop supplier nearby who will also mix and sell cellulose. The only time I've been queried is when I got Flame red for my '91 Mini Cooper but apparently the colour was used on Le...

These are excellent for stripping paint and they don't damage the metal

These are the ones I got but seem to be out of stock but there's plenty of the same on there

Re: Rear View Mirror. Replacements that fit

This one was originally on my '91 Cooper before I fitted the dipping type to it. As the Minor one was looking a bit rough I fitted this in its place. Even though only the top hole lines up it sits nice and snuggly and the cover clips over to hide the open holes.

Re: Rear View Mirror. Replacements that fit

I used a Mini mirror. Only one fixing the holes lines up but it's secure and doesn't vibrate. Not original looking but it's from the same stable and you can get a dipping version for when those huge SUV's dazzle you with their night suns. https://i.imgur.com/8N9FAQ4.jpg Sorry about the reflections h...
