Carby Dashpot

I recently rebuilt the carb and (silly me) forgot to put oil in the dashpot before fitting the Oil Bath air cleaner. As the Oil Bath air cleaner sits RIGHT over the dashpot you can't get the top of the dashpot off to top up. So I managed to get the lid slightly off and drizzled in some sewing machin...

Looking at old pics the car originally had a much tighter gap, more like less than 1/4" all along. Currently at least half inch

Switch wiring

I have fitted flashing indicators to my 53 Series II as a safety measure. Currently using a standard three way switch which is working fine. However, I have picked up one of these old Trafficator switches and would like to use this switch instead as it is more in keeping with the period (plus it has...

Front Bonnet Gap

Having rebuilt my Morrie and back on the road I am now at the stage of sorting all those fiddly little jobs. One is the front bonnet gap which is too wide. If I screw in the adjuster under the front lip it closes the gap but then the bonnet doesn't lock down securely and will pop up when driving. Ha...

Yep my bet is your sender unit, not the gauge. A new one will prob sort your problem. Not expensive from ESM or similar

Check all globes - the flasher requires resistance from both front and back lamps to operate. If one is out it can result in either the flasher going too fast or not working at all.

Well, I rebuilt the carb using all new seals and washers and......it leaked worse than ever! After much frustration and pulling the carb to pieces again I found that the jet casing was loose inside the housing. The jet itself was nice and snug, but the jet casing was loose. The only washer is a sing...

Thanks bmceossse. When you say the jet nut I presume you mean the main one, not the mixture adjusting nut..??

I have ordered a kit from ESM and will replace all seals and washers but will try tightening it this weekend as a short term measure.

Leaking Carby - Series II HS1

Hi there from Australia. I have just finished restoring my 1953 Series II which I have kept totally original. She is now registered and on the road. One small problem is that I have a leak from the jet assembly of the carb. It is the original HS1 carb and was rebuilt prior to getting the car on the ...
