Re: Great Service from ESM
I've not found them too bad on that front, drivewasher. OK I think almost ALL of todays parts are nothing like the quality of original stock but as far as they go the stuff I have had from them has been pretty good by and large.drivewasher wrote:Just a pity the parts quality is not as keen

Great Service from ESM
With the new rally season fast approaching and having already brought my Morris Minor out of its winter hibernation, I sent an order for a few bits and pieces to East Sussex Minors on the south coast. I placed the order at 1.25pm yesterday. The parts arrived at 12.20pm today. From order to delivery ...

I can never understand why the back edge of the fan is not cut to clear the breather :([frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1425337011_422 [/frame] If you just place 4 spacers behind the fan blade - no more than the thickness of a standard sized nut, the blade does not foul the breather can, ...

Re: 948cc gear lever in a 1098 box!
Here's a photo of the difference between the two levers - I made the same mistake without realising it. I used the earlier, shorter lever in my 1275 gearbox and couldn't engage reverse gear properly. Fortunately I also had a later gearlever so problem was easily solved but for those who have a 'slop...

Re: earliest non splitscreen traveller?
According to 'Original Morris Minor' by MMOC club secretary Ray Newell (and I guess this info comes from the Heritage records at Gaydon, the 1000 was introduced in October 1956 and started at car no 448801. Have a look at the metal plate under the bonnet. It's on the bulkhead top left. It should rea...

Re: Once in a lifetime opportunity
Absolutely echo those thoughts Bert(!) it has been a truly amazing summer as far as the Lancasters are concerned. I went up to Derwent Dam last Sunday to watch them fly over and it was awesome - what a sound and talk about crowds - must have been over 20,000 in or around the area - absolute chaos tr...

Re: Once in a lifetime opportunity
Thanks for the comment purps :-) I particularly wanted to go for the contrasts wherever I could which explains the cream wing piping too. The hood is from Don Trimming in Birmingham and is their premium quality vinyl. I am just saving some pennies so I can install a custom leather interior too which...

Here's a pic of my car at the 3 Lancasters day (that wasn't) on 2nd September. 'Just Jane' stands guard in the background. I have also added a link to my facebook album of the day so you get a flavour of what it was like. https://www.facebook.com/#!/bruce.kelsey.96/media_set?set=a.758048007586812.10...

Re: HOW DO I REMOVE THIS BOLT?
Alan - the drop link is attached to a spigot with a thread cut into it which is welded to the rear bodywork section. You won't actually be able to remove it unless it is extremely badly rotted/rusted.

Re: Once in a lifetime opportunity
OH MY GOD - what a completely awesome evening I had on Wednesday !!! Mike Dean and I popped over to Coningsby to see if there was any sign of the two Lancasters - what greeted us was absolutely stunning. Probably well over 300 people lining both sides of the road by the BBMF hanger and Coningsby dec...

Re: HOW DO I REMOVE THIS BOLT?
To be candid, Alan - the whole area around the shocker mount looks pretty tired so you might want to think about putting a replacement panel in there with a nice new shiny drop arm mounting? (If it's pretty much the same on the other side, I'd have that one done too and you can then ensure you have ...

Re: Convertible hood problems
Have turned the image round cos I got a headache standing on my head :-). Can't say for certain but it does look as if they have simply pulled the hood material over the front header rail and fixed it back over the frame and header rail. As mentioned earlier, I covered my header rail first before I ...
