Re: Front indicators and front side lights..
If one or more bulbs are blown the remaining ones will flash SLOWER rather than faster. This is because the flasher can operates by a bi-metalic switch which will when all bulbs are OK will flash at a given rate. If a bulb is blown on either side there is less current flowing through the flasher bi-...

Re: Alta porn?
Rob I have been out of action for a bit and meant to catch up with you re valve guide material. Looking at the first link aluminium bronze has a thermal expansion of 9.0 inches/inch/degree F X 10 -6. For ease of explanation I will only list the first relevant no. The second link on page 62 dependent...

Re: Series MMs For Sale
Rob Have been doing some googling and when searching Ford Prefect motor came up with this. Don't know whether you had them in the UK, but here from memory they were 10 HP donks and their little brother was called the Anglia and was an 8 HP version. 5 studs along the centre and right side and 4 on th...

Re: Series MMs For Sale
What is the head water outlet doing on the right side and why 5 head retaining stud holes on the right side? The spark plug holes are also incorrectly located. Is this a MM head? Having had a second look the block is not MM - it has an outward 'bump' on the left side sump flange above the clutch pla...

Re: minilite wheels tyres
The 185/60R14's with 51/2 inch minilites on my Minor do not have spacers fitted. They do not protrude outside the wings, have adequate clearence to the trunnions and do not increase the track front and rear by more than 25 mm. These 3 requirements must be met to comply with VSB 14 which is a modifie...

Re: minilite wheels tyres
I have 51/2 inch minilites from Bull Motif on my Minor and they are fitted with 185/60R14 tyres. They are the recommended tyre for that rim.

I am using for all 8 valves in my blown MM, exhaust valves from a Nissan EXA turbocharged motor. Made of good stuff and have 7 mm. stems and a head dia. of 30.3 mm. You may want to check them out.

Re: Fuel smell
Declan I measured my Minor gasket at 60.3 PCD so I believe the Minor and MG TD screw patterns are the same. As a matter of interest your measurement of 60.33 mm. is equal to 2.37519 inches, just 1.9 tenths of a thou over 23/8 inches. As for the fuel resistance of silicone hose I have 2 lengths of 42...

Would I be correct in assuming the rubber gasket you linked to, is suitable for the Minor tank sender?

Re: Fuel smell
Further to my last post when the sender screws are fixed the upper side of the screw thread is tight against the upper side of the female threads. Because the thread has clearence there is a void between the underside of the threads which is helical. When the screws are fixed they penetrate into the...

Re: Fuel smell
It is possible for fuel to make its way up the sender screw retaining threads and out under the screw head. Like you say it does not take much to create a smell. There was a post by Declan Burns where he resolved this problem in his MG TD which are apparently difficult to seal. He used a light smear...

Re: rear dampers - advice
It is important to remove the damper as the manual states and have it level, otherwise it is difficult to gauge the amount of air in the body if the damper is at an angle.

Re: rear dampers - advice
Section L3 of my MM manual states 'The interior of the body should be filled with fluid to within 3/8 inch (10 mm.) from the top of the cover'.
Also done with damper removed.

Re: Wiper arm adapter
Rabbitt I have attached a pic of two knurled drivers. They are held onto the 1/4 inch dia. spindle by a grub screw and have a splined end to accept a later arm. The OD of the spline is 13.5 mm. They were supplied by 'Flexible Drive' and designated TC99. If they are not quite what you want then email...

Re: carb float pin
Bob I believe I have come up with the answer. I went and searched for the Grose valve removed from my carby. It took an hour to find it and I have attached a pic of it along with a link to SU Midel who supplied the carb. Both needle valves appear to be identical. They built it for my motor after I s...

Re: carb float pin
Bob I have attached a link showing a HS2 fuel bowl top assembly where it states that it also fits a HS4. If fuel can be discharged from the top vent when using a Grose needle and seat in my HS4, why can it not do the same when a Grose needle and seat is fitted to a HS2? Not wanting to begin a disput...
