But what about if I can't afford the money up-front to repair that nice Roller I've just wrecked, eh? I'd rather pay for insurance, plus they sort out all the legal stuff for you too - I hit the back of a modern hatchback a few years ago in my second Minor (wrote it off), and it helped me repair the...

Just to add a bit of a random tangent here, as this is a decorating thread; I want to paint my radiators to look either pale antique gold or bronze, does anyone know of any suitable paint for this? Someone suggested car spray paints, but I want to know if they will withstand the heat (we have our ra...

I'm afraid I'd have to disagree, having needed my insurance on more than one occasion! And no, I'm not a manic driver, just somewhat unlucky. I pay my insurance on the basis that, if indeed I do hit and damage or write-off a very expensive car, I won't have to worry about finding the money out of my...

Everyone here knows mine is called 'Ector, that's because of the number plate - ECT 105D (well, ECTO 1 was already taken!). Previous Minors have been called names relating to the numberplates too - Wimpy, for WMP 931K, Kasper, for KAS 811, and the only car that didn't have a name was the Pug.

Unfortunately staying there isn't an option, neither is buying anything over five hundred quid. It's going to be vaguely temporary, as eventually we'd probably move up there, it all depends on if the other half gets a job in those parts. 'Ector is pretty much fixed, but I'm still paying off the gara...

Need a New Car . . . . Again!

Hi guys, I need some help again. I've got a new job, but it means a daily trip of nearly a hundred miles from Oadby in Leicestershire to Alfreston in Derbyshire. Now, there's no way on earth I'm going to put 'Ector the Traveller through that! So, I need a cheap, motorway-friendly car, up to 1...

Nope, I hate it - it looks undefined and messy to me, and there's too much fussy stuff on the left hand side of the screen now. Plus, having a pure white background with black lettering can make my eyes wobble, it's too harsh - any chance of having a different skin similar to the old one please?

I've never had a problem doing 60-65mph on the motorway. Maybe I've just been lucky, as I'm content to sit at those speeds in the slow lane and allow everything else to pass - and aren't trucks supposed to have limiters (British ones, at least)?

And unfortunately, for those of us British folks who are willing to start on a fairly low wage and train up on the job, or just work hard for a steady, secure wage, all the work has now gone to foreign nationals (and good luck to them, they're hard workers). This is probably because a vicious circle...
