Traveller rear luggage cover

I'd like to fit some form of cover for the rear luggage compartment of my traveller. Some one must have done this before so any advise would be welcome.

No key

I haven't got a key to lock the back doors on my traveller. How easy is it to dismantle the locking mechanism to find out what the key number is which I assume is stamped on the square shaft or do I keep trying different keys till I find the right one.

Boot lock key

I have a key for the ignition and the drivers door and one for the passenger side door. Neither of these keys fit the boot so at the moment I am unable to lock the boot. Should one of these keys fit the boot lock or is it a separate key. There is no number on the lock.

Re: Manifolds

If the manifold stamped 12A 4141 is the correct one for a 1098cc engine then what does the one stamped 12G 3538 fit ? They both look the same to me.

Manifolds

I have two manifolds that came with a box of bits one has 12A 4141 stamped on it the other has 12G 3538 stamped on it. Both look the same which one is the correct one for my 1968 1098cc engine.

The Ginger bush is tucked up nice and warm but there is no signs of my purple morning glory. I stopped posting my horticultural experiences as I was getting negative replies to my posts.

Re: can this block be rebored ?

Hi Phill

The picture on Ebay certainly looks like the washer I'm talking about but the hole in the centre is too small to go over the crankshaft but it would go over the camshaft and the starter dog.

Re: can this block be rebored ?

Timing gears all on but I'm a bit mystified. In the kit that a came with the duplex gear there is a lock washer, a felt seal which I know goes on the crankshaft together with the oil thrower with the stamped F to the front but there is a domed washer in the kit the hole in the centre is too small to...

The timing gears will certainly not just push on, they are extremely tight do they need heating ?

Re: can this block be rebored ?

The rebuild is coming along slowly. Two questions, I have installed the oil pump after priming it with oil, there is a tin lid that sits in the back plate covering the oil pump in the workshop manual it shows it as a potential source of oil leakage but there doesn't appear to be any gasket or sealan...

Re: can this block be rebored ?

I think I have found the cause of the tightness in turning the engine over. I undid the big end bearings and turned the caps round and torqued each one up then tried turning the crankshaft again each time I tightened the bearings up. The engine now turns over fairly easily albeit a bit stiff but I s...

Re: can this block be rebored ?

Hi Phil
Yes the crankshaft was turning as it should but was getting progressively stiffer as I put the pistons in. I could turn it just about until I torqued the con rod bearings up after that I couldn't turn it.

Re: can this block be rebored ?

Well all the big ends are in place and have been torqued up to 60 as per the workshop manual. I have managed to get the pistons in and have torqued the connecting rod bearings up to 35. Whilst building the engine I have used copious amounts of oil and have been turning the engine over which has beco...

Re: can this block be rebored ?

Well the block is now back having been bored +20 and have pistons to fit. As PTH advised have new core plugs to fit whats the best way of removing the old ones and what sealant do I put the new ones in with? I have a reconditioned crankshaft, cylinder head and rocker shaft all ready to fit together ...

Re: can this block be rebored ?

I took the block to the engineering shop to be measured. I was told it was a standard block which had never been rebored although there was a bit of wear so it's going to be rebored +20.
