Re: Fuel smell
I had this issue for many years. After changing gaskets to viton and thr filler hose I eventually realised it was coming from the cap. Fuel was evaporating and running back down on the outside of the filler flexis line back into the boot. Obviously not very much but it does not need to be to get a s...

Re: suddenly cutting out after starting up
Sounds like the r fuel pump. I find they tend to fail with intermittent use. Iin all liklihood it will need a clean up on the points. Mine did this earlier this year after not being used over the winter. I took the cap off the pump cleaned the surfaces on the points and it's been fine since. I did t...

Re: Hardening half-shafts
I always thought the higher the diff ratio the more chance of breaking one. So a 3.9 would have a lower chance than a 4.2.
Using this logic lcvs are very prone. They have a very low ratio, and when empty are very light at the back so can bounce promoting wheel slip.

Re: Mobile phones
I have found the screen mouts to work better on the screen. I did stick a stanav onto thr metal dash but that damaged thr paintwork so I won't do that again
A usb point can me mounted discretely under the dash and then can be wired for positive or negative earth

If you are registered as an Exhibitor you park on thr track or in thr pits area. If you just have tickets to visit you park in thr adjacent field parking. There is lots of parking and it's all free. You then walk in which is about 5 to 10 minutes away

Re: Daily ... well summer.... use
I would add to the list good quality stop tail leds bulbs. The difference is quite something. You won't notice it, but other road users will see you. If you car is bumpy I would change the damper oil. It is often over looked and sae30 gives an improvement in my mind, but it depends if you are after ...

If you are going to disturb the steering column make sure you take off thr indicator swith 1st. It's very easy to brake the switch on thr horn contact otherwise ........

Re: Cruising Speeds 1098cc Motorways etc
I am glad you enjoyed your trip. I drive my standard car on all roads. I am happy to take motorways including m25, Smart Motrowater etc, and mine cruises at a steady 60mph. This is good for sitting in behind lorrrys and the like if this works. Alternatively i am happy on A or b roads. I would ideall...

Re: Clutch pedal
It's relatively straightforwards although expect everything to be siezed up. As you have the gear box cover off I would uncouple the clutch and brakes pedals and remove the main pedal assembly. I found the spacer was rusted on and needed some pursaasion to free off. It's so much nicer once it's reas...

Re: Hard-drive like clunking noise at low revs
I have listed to it. It's very dificuilt to tell but it does not sound like transmission or propshaft related to me.
From thr video it sounds like something is knocking. Do you have any noises from thr suspension?
