Re: Help with Maestro engine.
Thanks Philthehill. Within the inlet manifold, and in the base of it(you have to look from underneath) there is some kind of plug. The same size as a 10 pence coin. Coolant is leaking from this plug. I guess I'll have to take the manifold off to repair,or replace it. Hope I can find one. Finding repl...

Help with Maestro engine.
I have a couple of Minor vans, and also a Maestro van. The Maestro appears to be leaking coolant from the base of the inlet manifold. I may have to take it off,but just wondered if any one knows if there is there a core plug in that area. Antifreeze mixture is weak,so,I think ice has formed and expan...

Re: Series 11 GPO van windscreen
Has anybody any advice re the fitting of the left hand, fixed screen on a split screen GPO van, I have purchased a normal rubber seal which I assume has to be cut and mitred then glued into the correct shape but it would be good to know how tight it needs to be on the glass I would talk to Maurice ...

Re: Too long without a Minor ...
Always amazes me how far these vehicles spread across our Globe. I was unloading my van today, when a gentleman from Pakistan came over to take a picture with his phone. His brother has a van, and a saloon in everyday use in Pakistan !

Re: Cheesed off.
Many of the new coils are made in huts in far away places - and yes - every chance you had a low ohms coil there. The OLD coils NEVER fail - and will ring up at 3.2 ohms which is correct for a non-ballast ignition system - ie what you have in your Minor. The overload of the low ohms coil will have ...

Thanks Scott. It's been a different beast with the new coil !Scott wrote:If you have a resistor coil, they're designed to operate at around 9v so they won't last long with 12v hooked up.
Most cars from the '70s & '80s used these to beef up the spark when starting the engine.

Re: Cheesed off.
I'm sure we all know the feeling! These cars can require deep breaths sometimes. I've read of new coils burning out when mounted horizontally on here before, something to do with the windings not being totally immersed in the oil inside. Best of luck getting it running again. Thank you Monty. The l...

New leads, points, cap, condenser, coil as well, less than six months/2000 miles ago. Getting a slight misfire whilst driving to work this week. Driving to work today and the beast totally gave up as I approached a set of lights. Would not start for the love of money. Changed the condenser at the road s...

Re: Army Traveller
The brakes work fine as i have renewed everything, drums, pads, all cylinders and pipe work. The only thing that's bothering me is the indicator works when it feels like it. Would this be a faulty flasher unit or something to do with the indicator stalk?? Thanks. As it's been stood for a long time,...

Re: Advice on brakes
Changed my front brakes to 8". Used as much NOS as I could find. If you do the job right they are fine. Done six years ago,it will stand on it's nose. Despite the confidence I have with the brakes,I always make eye contact with drivers waiting to emerge at junctions ![frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/...
