Re: What's my line?

I used a kit of ready cut adhesive vinyl stripes which cost Β£15 from ebay on my Series 2 and they looked OK so I may go down that route again if my brush work doesn't... work. πŸ˜‚

Re: Showtime finally!

Couldn't believe it when I found these Clacton Butlins lapel badges at the show today in a box of odds and ends.
Dated 1966, same year as our car! 😁

Re: What's my line?

Ah!
I didn't realise it had not been finished.
Looking at a few Minors today at a show I noticed that some had coach lines but not all. I've decided to have a go at painting them on in old English white to match the wheels and grille using Humbrol enamel and striping tape. Wish me luck! πŸ€žπŸ˜‚

Re: Showtime finally!

Nice badge and you’ve almost aligned the screw heads !! A practice not seen much these days, dressing the screws ! :D You have the eyes of a hawk my Lord! I never bother to align screw slots, I'm only too pleased when I can get them to fit! I usually have to resort to holding the damn things with n...

What's my line?

Hi all,
I read that all Minors had a pinstripe but noticed in the latest issue of Minor Matters that FMT 265J, the restored last ever Minor, doesn't appear to have one.? πŸ€”

Re: Showtime finally!

Our Clacton Butlins holiday park closed many years ago and it took me ages to find a car club badge in good condition.
I was lucky enough to find this original mint condition one on good old Ebay, expensive but worth it!

Re: Overheating

The water pump may not be up to the job.
Remove, inspect and replace if necessary.
It is easy to do and not expensive.
Good luck! 😁

Re: Showtime finally!

Hi,
I'm having difficulty adjusting to retirement after being a shift worker on the railway but I think I'll be fine!
I will have a rummage through the files and see if I can find a picture of Willum in his finished state! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘
Found this one taken recently before his registration number was changed.

Showtime finally!

Hi all, Having recently retired from the employment treadmill I have finally got Willum Morris in a fit state to attend a local show day at Brightlingsea on Sunday. I'm sure he will raise a few eyebrows when the purists see all his "additions" but most people smile and take photos, at leas...

Re: Metal parcel shelf

Received the other two sets of ash trays and sorted out the best components from all three sets so I ended up with one perfect set which I fitted in the car plus a good second set. The smashed up rubbish set went back to the sender and I received a refund. I must admit they look very nice when fitte...

Re: Pinstripe

I agree, I don't have the dexterity to pinstripe freehand and the quotes received from local bodyshop sign writers have prompted me to try the stencil tape and proper 1/4 " artist's brush. Looked at the pearl grey paint which the stripes apparently should be but will be using Old English White ...

Re: Pinstripe

Much obliged for the replies folks,
I found some stencil tape that comes in all sizes on the web so I will be striping in the next couple of weeks hopefully.πŸ‘πŸ˜

Re: Trafalgar blue touch up

I couldn't find the code for my old black series 2 so took the boot lid to my local bodywork supply shop.
They scanned the colour and supplied me with a 500ml aerosol of 041 VW Skoda Ebony Schwartz for the sum of Β£16 +vat.
The paint was a perfect match, well worth the money! 😁

Lol, that's true but if I get any more broken bits the seller will be receiving a box from me containing something black with fangs and tentacles! πŸ‘Ή

Re: Metal parcel shelf

Hi Chums, Well after the parcel shelf went into the car without a hitch the long awaited ash trays arrived and guess what! Yep.......Smashed to pieces and useless! I have reluctantly bought another two sets from the same place hoping to build one perfect set from three and asked the seller to take a...

Re: Starter pull cable melting

Wow! Looks like a narrow escape! As with all electrical components, especially high consumption ones, keep the adjacent areas clean, dry and free from loose cables and other combustibles. One of the 1st things I replaced in my old series 2 was the dirty, rusty crud covered starter switch. Glad your ...

Further to my earlier ramblings, the shelf emerges from the shed into the daylight ready to go back in. Still awaiting the swing out ash trays. 😁

Re: Metal parcel shelf

I guess one of the previous owners had the same soggy shelf syndrome!
I would have preferred a metal replacement but am more at home working with wood.
