Re: Ride height.

Thanks for that. It does puzzle me why one outer fulcrum is lower than the other. I carefully counted each trunnion's turns when I took them off, and screwed them back on the same number of turns. It was either 19 or 20, can't remember which, but even if one was 19 & the other 20, the pitch is o...

Re: Ride height.

Ok, so this puzzles me. I have adjusted the ride height on both sides of the car. Two weeks ago, after adjusting the n/s, the difference between the inner & outer fulcrums was 16mm on the n/s, 5mm on the o/s. Tonight, after adjusting the o/s, the difference is 47mm on the n/s, 58mm on the o/s. H...

Re: Ride height.

Evening. Would adjusting the ride height alter the tracking in any way? I have now got it raised a bit, but the steering wheel no longer centres when going straight ahead. The track rod ends have not been disturbed, but it's still slightly higher on one side than the other, only now the o/s is a bit...

Re: Ride height.

Ok thanks, front arm is the one it refers to, that's what I needed to know.

It's on 2 axle stands, so pretty safe!

Ride height.

Evening. I'm trying to get the ride height sorted. O/S is significantly lower than N/S. When the manual talks about moving the arm 1 spline to raise or lower by 38mm (1 1/2" for those still using Roman units), does it mean the rear arm, that is the one at the rear of the torsion bar, or does it...

Sweden

Morning.

Anyone on here from Sweden? Contemplating a job move, would appreciate any advice on importing & running a Minor in Sweden, please.

Cross member replacement

Evening. Quick question. The o/s half of the centre cross member on my Traveller is looking like it'll need replacing in the next couple of years. I can't weld, so DIY is not an option. What would I expect to pay to have a competant welder do this job, assuming I supplied the replacement crossmember...

Re: Timing chain tensioner-Marina 1275 engine

You could enlarge the bottom hole of the tensioner bracket so that the head of the pivot sits in the bracket, flush with the face of the block. It's still not going to move anywhere, and sounds easier than a c/s and drilling the pin. Thoughts anyone?

Re: Timing chain tensioner-Marina 1275 engine

I meant the larger hole in the backplate actually! I reckon its about 16mm. Think I have a suitable peening tool somewhere.

Re: Timing chain tensioner-Marina 1275 engine

Ta Declan. Might have a go at that -I doubt if I have a suitable drill bit for the pivot pin hole.

Re: Timing chain tensioner-Marina 1275 engine

I have the original Marina plate. Do you know the size of the holes? Particularly the pivot pin hole?

Re: Timing chain tensioner-Marina 1275 engine

No, I haven't. So the head of the pin goes the other way round does it? In the post below, it looks like it's on the front of the tensioner bracket.

Timing chain tensioner-Marina 1275 engine

Morning.

I'm fitting a Marina 1275 in my Minor. I am fitting a new timing chain & tensioner-can anyone tell me how I should set up the tensioner please? How tight should it be on the chain?

Thanks,

Re: HIF carbs

Ta, feeling much better than I was, but still not right. Ok, next question-is it prudent to replace the jet as well as the needle on an HIF? I've usually replaced both in the past on my HS2. Also, is there anything in the float chamber that may be worth replacing? Both carbs are unknowns having been...

Re: HIF carbs

Ah well, happy days then! I happen to have a big valve head in the bank too! Of course, I don't actually know what head is on the 1275 yet, but again, I assume it's just a standard 12G940. It's definitely ex-Marina, the engine number checks out. I could try the 38, then the 44 & see which I like...

Re: HIF carbs

OK ta.

Next question-I still have the HIF44 in the bank, so what sort of mods would make it worthwhile on a 1275? Different cam?
