Rob, thanks for the photos. I havent got all the light fittings but if I dont use original lamps I will probably be fabricating them.
Colin, thanks, what make were the lamps you bought?
It looks like this is feasible without any insurmountable difficulties.

Re: Lowlight conversion for series 2
Rob, looking at your second photo I see yours has the early short bonnet. Mine has the later long type so I hope its not different at the front edge. Is that an Alta head? Ian

Re: Lowlight conversion for series 2
Panky, thanks, and I'll keep the offcuts in case I ever want it back to standard look. Rob, thanks for the photo. If you have any panels I'm interested. The grille panel is bare, if your car is still apart any chance of a photo of the fittings behind it? If I go for motorcycle five inch lamps I will...

Lowlight conversion for series 2
My '54 series 2 with bronze dash and cheesegrater grille needs new front wings. Having a lowlight grille I'm considering a conversion to a lowlight front end. I know new lowlight wings are available in fibreglass and I'm just working out what else I will need. Five inch headlamps were originally Luc...

Re: Series 2 travellers do you know of any now or in the past?
In the past? A friend had one fifty years ago. Sadly he put it through the hedge one night when he should have walked home and that was the end of it. Numbers are long forgotten.

Perhaps the short one is for a Mini Traveller.

Re: Indicator bulb holder
Even if you can get it working in my experience these are never reliable. I wired my indicator to a separate accessory warning lamp and glued the green end on permanently.

Re: Key issues
The number denotes the cut of the key but you also need the right shape of key blank with the right longitudinal grooves. This is shown by the letters FS and so on. My late Minor has an FS key but my '54 has one FA and one FP. You need to remove a barrel to get the right letters and numbers.

Possibly it has a changed gearbox, diff, wheels or tyres.

Re: Footman James issues
Just to update this for those without member area access I asked for an explanation of the exclusive scheme. I had a response from the moderator pointing out that FJ will cover members of youth and age beyond the limits of other insurers and that this question has been discussed already in Minor Mat...

Beyond 'no time wasters' some even put 'no idiots'. Does anyone have an awareness of being an idiot? I take the view that anyone who puts stroppy aggressive things in ads is probably selling dodgy stuff and give them a wide berth.

Re: Footman James issues
Interesting that insurance can be identified as a factor in the club losing members. I have posted a question in the members section so lets see if that gets a response. As a club collecting subs from members MMOC should be accountable and silence is not an adequate response to a proper concern.

It is well that I didnt hold my breath. The nature of MMOCs relationship with FJ remains a mystery. Perhaps I should try again with a question in the members area.

Re: Footman James issues
Since I asked two days ago there has been no explanation of the 'exclusive' arrangement between FJ and the MMOC.
Does anyone know how this has come about? Is anyone in MMOC responsible for it?
Do the MMOC great and good actually look at their own website?

Re: Midsomer Murders.
A friend hired his Jaguar for a film which was ideal for all their purposes except for a year letter newer than the supposed year of the film. The car was duly fitted with plates suitable for the period and apparently this is common practice. Ok on a film studio lot I suppose but a bit naughty if th...

Re: Footman James issues
Over the years I have asked FJ for quotes several times but they have never offered terms better than the renewal from the old insurer. Since they are described as having an 'exclusive scheme' with MMOC this poses the question of how exactly the members or the MMOC benefit from this arrangement. Doe...
