Re: Van roof - section thro' construction

Ken was certainly a talented tin smith by the look of that van. My van has been "in rebuild" now for 18 years & 4 months. The chap who owned it before me aquired it in October 1996 and began the rebuild with a brand new chassis in 2002. He also carried out the following repairs: New w...

Re: Van roof - section thro' construction

Well done Cap n black. Thought you might like to see the late Ken Rutlidge, handy work. He bought this van in a pub, from a builder, the price was a pint of bitter. The roof blew off on the way home ! To be honest,Ken was not really a Minor enthusiast. But,he was a very good tin smith, and would do up t...

Re: Supermarket petrol.

I'll waffle on for another couple if you like :) None of my vehicles seem sensitive to that supplied from the various fuel outlets, just put the cheapest in and they are as slow as ever. Good man, keep the waffle going. Like you, my vehicles suffer nothing,no matter where I fill up. One thing I don'...

Re: Supermarket petrol.

So I'm confused now, do I get my grommets from the Supermarket if they all come from the same place? John I always use super unleaded grommets, just makes the car run that much better, and certainly wouldn't risk getting them from a supermarket :-? Will it reach 6 pages :o Might just get to six pages...

Oh Dear, have I upset a couple of unitary construction boys ! These are the grommets drivewasher. You can normally fit a brake union through them. No one is making them anymore.[frame]Image[/frame]

Re: Supermarket petrol.

I have had terrible trouble with grommets on my resto from the same supplier not being same as described or just pure crap. The tie plate ones I tried to stretch over the union nuts the grommet just split! I did eventually manage to get the wrong one on. The petrol pump wire grommet was the one tha...

Re: Supermarket petrol.

Hi If you cant stretch the grommets over the unions then you could try cutting them with a sharp blade.. they will then fit. Morris did this with some of the bulkhead grommets. Taupe Thanks Taupe. The specialists pic shows quite clearly the correct grommet, but sent bulk head ones. I spoke to them,t...

Well I'm on folks, might not be the right place to ask ? But,I need tie plate, brake pipe grommets. I have been sent some from a Morris Minor "specialist" supplier. I can't get the brake pipe union through them. I would struggle to get the brake pipe through them ! Anyone know of a supplier ...

Re: Supermarket petrol.

In my job I remove the pump/sender from the fuel tanks of cars as I drain them, Id say a good half have some water present in the tank along with other crud that you wouldn't expect to find. I remember my Vauxhall Ventora had a glass chamber on the pump that used to trap some water, as did the inli...

Re: Supermarket petrol.

Ladies and Gentleman, I wouldn't get your underwear in a twist over petrol. As long as your car, starts, and gets you to work, good on it. :D All supermarkets storage tanks,( I delivered to them all, Tesco's,Morrison's Asda etc ) all have water warning sensors. None of them will allow their tanks to fa...
