Philpotts Garage in Ramsgate?

My Morris has a small sign on the handglove compartment with the name of a garage. Probably the garage who sold the car the first time (or at least sold the lid of the handglove compartment  ). See picture. It says: Philpotts Garage Canterburyroad Ramsgate The original reg.number of the car is ...

I had the same problem and dismantling the gearbox resulted in:
Jumping out of 2nd on overrun is usually due to the bronze washer/shim between 2nd & 3rd gears worn &/or broken up.

Mine was broken. :(

Replaced the complete gearbox because several other spots showed wear.

Thanks to you all, I will try to find the 20W50 first. I have build in a rebuild gearbox last month and renewed several gaskets of the engine, including the gaskets of the sump. They were hard as stone. Had serious oil leaking before, and will refill the engine and gearbox next week. I think its bet...

What type of oil?

I saw on this forum that 20W50 is recommended for the morris. I assume this is for summer and winter use.

I'm only driving in the summer with my tourer (the heater is OK, but below 18 C is cold with the hood off). Should i also use the 20W50, or is there a better alternative?

Thanks,

Theo

Thanks Scott, I'm now rebuilding it in the original state, but will take all major measurements of the original mastercylinder. Will keep my eyes open for a tandem master cylinder that will fit. If i can't find anything like that over here i will have come to Australia. Looking for a good reas...

Front wings with piping?

Today i checked at 4 Travelers how the front wing is bolted to the chassis. At all 4 cars kit was applied to close the space between the wing and chassis. On some pictures i could see a piping was used (same as used at the rear wings). Should also these piping be used at the front wings? What color ...

2 brake circuits in a minor?

I was wondering if a modification to a 2-circuit brake system is available. Today i met someone from J&L Spares (www.jlspares.com) on a oldtimer exibition in Maastricht NL. He showed me a mastercilinder that would probably fit where the mastercilinder now is, with the same 2 holes for the bolts ...

Position of water-container

Hello, I'm trying to get my Morris as original as possible. With everything removed from the engine-compartment i'm now placing it all back. On pictures in several books (Haynes, Newell) I can not clearly see where to put the little water-container (is this the correct english word?) for the windscr...
