Re: Boot lock/latch

It should turn the same amount as the door key, 180 deg one direction to lock, 180 the other way to unlock. Vertical to Vertical. You could just try a squirt of WD40, or take it out and give it a good clean. You might find that one of the little pins is stuck. If you don't know what I mean by 'littl...

Re: Download Minor matters?

Not that I've seen. There seems to be a terminology discrepancy. Personally, I wouldn't call using an Online Viewer a 'Download'. However, I suspect it is done that way to prevent pdf copies being circulated. It is after all part of MMOC membership, unlike this Message Board which is open to anyone....

Re: Battery running down...

Battery certainly seems OK. It might be the Regulator, but before testing that, which can get a little fiddly, I'd take a look at the dynamo brushes, probably a good change they have worn away.

Re: Battery running down...

I would not rely on the little Red Light alone, if the symptoms are indicating otherwise. The lamp is telling you that the Dynamo is outputting the right voltage. Basically when the voltage output of the generator is lower than the voltage of the battery, the light will be on. The current path is fr...

Re: Experimental style

At the bottom of every page they offer some information that is composed of Dark Grey on Black! Displays as light grey text on a dark grey background for me, so very easy to read, just shows how a website designed on one monitor can look completely different on others. Here's a screen snip. I can a...

Re: Experimental style

So because Mike put the well known (to some people here at least) photo of the Stripy Bonnet Stockport Constabulary Minors on the facebook Group this morning, I went to the Greater Manchester Police Museum website to see what they offered for research. At the bottom of every page they offer some inf...

@geoberni - is your avatar showing you broken down with the police closing off an entire area of main road for you? It's a tad difficult to see it fully at that size :D :P  Yep, that was us on the way down to Nuffield Place for the Anniversary Event, Sun Sep 23, 2018, set out early in the mor...

Re: Rain Issue

It'd be good to see some engine bay photos in case the Coil is mounted somewhere strange for example.

But I agree with Grumpy21, a fine mist is required, not a drenching.

Re: Board Features

Well I managed it.
Use a online programme (eg http://www.simpleimageresizer.com) to reduce the KB, then use a photo editor to reduce the Pixel size.
Doing it the opposite way around doesn't work.

Re: Board Features

It's the tiny size that's giving me issues. Maximum dimensions; width: 80 pixels, height: 80 pixels, file size: 6.00 KiB. The other forum I frequent took me long enough to get an Avatar and that one is limited to : Maximum dimensions; width: 150 pixels, height: 150 pixels, file size: 781.00 KiB. I c...

Re: Green/ brown wire near dynamo

Quite honestly, if it goes 'Click' my first thoughts are always the battery as the likely culprit. Your description of I charged the battery up fully overnight but it lost charge quickly. doesn't really make sense to me, electrically. What do you mean by 'lost charge quickly'? Did it start the car o...

Oh Boy, that would be bad. Some colour blind people wouldn't see the red at all, so it would be Black on Black! :o

Personally, those alternating backgrounds are far too bright and stripy. I think they would also be a problem for anyone viewing the site, perhaps potential members of the site just come for a browse, who have certain disabilities. There's a lot of people out there, with various conditions, who lead...

Re: Taxing

Even though we are car tax free in theory if you do not go through the tax your car motions you could be fined or warned That's because people bandy around the term 'Tax Free'. Historical Vehicles are NOT Tax Free, those that satisfy the eligibility criteria are entitled to be in the Historic Tax C...

Apologies for posting under the incorrect heading . Think I have now sorted my issue . Seems I have to ‘ mark posts as read ‘ when I have opened them or the red circle remains red !!!! I think your problem is that you are using the Back Arrow, so you're seeing the Cached page on your device. Person...

Re: Taxing

I appreciate the minor is tax exempt, No it's not a blanket exemption, in fact it's not any exemption. There is a Historic Class for which the Fee is £0, but you still have to re-tax it every year. Rules are easy enough to find. https://www.gov.uk/historic-vehicles/vehicles-exempt-from-vehicle-tax ...

I have just noticed that I claimed to have worked a 5-2 mornings shift. It wasn't that bad; I actually worked 5-1 mornings. I would have edited my first post but can't for the life of me find an edit facility. It depends on how long the Edit function is active for. When it's there, it the Top Right...

Re: Windscreen Washers - What year?

You are better off putting the jets on the scuttle as they were on the factory fitted cars, out of the way. A screen washer was an optional extra for many years, and several types were available. I have a Lucas Electric Screenjet and a Trico vacuum washer but the manual plunger on my 1000 is simple...

Re: Historic status, MOT and Tax ?

The first week part does catch a lot of vehicles, many dealers used to hold off registering vehicles until early January so they could say it was a year newer, my Range Rover is a oct 86 build but was registered on the 3rd January 87. How do you tell? I've brought 5 (perhaps 6) brand new cars over ...
