Tracking Gauge
Can someone tell me how to make a DIY tracking gauge or better still do a diagram - I'm sure I've read a thread on here talking about a dexion frame but I can't find it!

EYEBOLT FULCRUM PIN
I'm about to renew the eyebolt bushes and after studying the diagrams and reading various posts I can't see what stops the eyebolt fulcrum pin turning when I try to undo the front nut to remove the front half of the bottom suspension arm. Will it hold tight by friction in the bush or rust on the cup ...

Re: Front suspension overhaul
Thanks for the quick and comprehensive reply! Have you any idea as to how many or part of a degree the camber will move to negative for a 1,1/4 inch raise in height?

Front suspension overhaul
I am about to overhaul the front suspension on my 1968 tourer and intend fitting polyurethane bushes. ESM sell a set for less than £20 which seems cheap compared to EBay etc. - has anyone used them - are they OK.? Would you use polyurethane on both sides of the tiebar or fit normal rubber on the rea...

Re: Engine mount replacement
Wow - wot a can of worms I opened - I'll do my own inspection of the ones currently fitted before buying new ones because it may well be the case that although they look "tired" to quote the mechanic, they're OK - there are no apparent symptoms of distress e.g. knocking or movement when ch...

Engine mount replacement
I've just had Maurice to the MOT station and he passed with flying colours however the mechanic suggested that the engine mount rubbers were tired. What's the best method for replacement? Having read a few threads on here regarding hardness of the rubber it appears that the Bull Motif part is consid...

Re: Carburettor vent size
Update: I I consulted a SU carburettor specialist who said that the 6 mm tube was fine so I fitted the carburettor this week and it works perfectly. I have a further query -after fitting the new carb I noticed that the float chamber wasn't exactly vertical presumably because the angle of the manifol...

Re: Carburettor vent size
I don't think it would have been beyond SU's capability to make an inlet pipe with a large O/D and small bore if that was needed..

Re: Carburettor vent size
Definitely off a 1972 Mini which I had from new!
The plastic restrictor sounds like a possibility but why not just make the I/D smaller in the first place?
Maybe I'll just try it and if it runs OK I'll pull a plug to make sure it's not running weak.

Re: Carburettor vent size
The pipe is approx. 8mm O/D and 6mm I/D and appears to be 6mm bore right through into the carb. I know it has'nt been altered at all because it came off my Mini 40 years ago and has been hiding in my garage ever since!

Carburettor vent size
I have sourced a late hs2 carb with fume extraction port to improve my current rocker cover to air filter arrangement and was surprised to see how big the hole was given that the general opinion of the forum that anything engine side of the carb.should be restricted to about 3mm . The port into the ...

Bypass hose renewal
I'm going to fit a new bypass hose by removing the water pump. Do I need to remove the fan blade and/or radiator to get the pump off? In other words what's the best way to do it?

Thermostat check
I'm going to check which thermostat is fitted to my 1968 engine however I see that the metal heater return pipe is in the way. It is secured to two brackets which are themselves bolted under cylinder head nuts. Will it be OK to undo these nuts and then just torque them down again. I think they shoul...
