I suspect that they are snake oil, but there’s one on my baby Austin and seems to do no harm.
I’ve read all the history about them... enhancing fighter fuel in WW2 etc... but I can’t get the science. Just doesn’t seem to make sense.

An old sock full of cat litter, under the seat, absorbs amazing amounts of moisture. Then you can dry it out in the airing cupboard, or on a radiator, and reuse it.

Mike (jagnut) will, no doubt be delighted to know that I have sold the Tiguan and replaced it with a similar car, high seating position etc,that What Car rated as the most fuel efficient petrol car they have ever tested in a real world situation. I agree that a stabilising treatment on the concrete will pay dividends in the long run.
If the existing surface has a rough texture the paint will wear off the high spots quite rapidly, regardless of its quality.
