Re: Ford Capri wheels on a minor?!

Thanks very much for your replies guys, I have been told! What sortof width do you think of as max. then? I've certainly heard of 6's on front and 7s on the back... Also, am I going to have to look for wheels with absolutely 0 offset then? And are PCD adapters worse for wheel bearings than spacers? ...

Ford Capri wheels on a minor?!

Sorry to post such an annoying question, as I know this has been discussed alot here, but would ford capri wheels be suitable for a minor? Having finally earned enough cash to start properly working on the Moggy, I've decided I'd like some wider wheels. My understanding is they should improve the ha...

Re: wing to grill panel(sorted photo)

Looks great. Are the fiberglass panels just bolted to the bottom of the wing?

Re: Loose boot lock/handle

Brandonr - I got mine out with an 8mm socket & extension, 1/4 inch drive, and they just about fit in. 8mm isn't quite the right size, but it worked! As a slightly separate issue, does anyone's boot handle have any rotational play when locked? Mine seems to have so much play it will open even whe...

Re: HT leads

A bit late on this, but I just got a set of HT leads from A series spares, they made up a custom length set for me, worked out cheap too!

Re: Remove Control Box - Alternator

Niceone, cheers. So I'll use around double the current draw for all the fuses. And I'll get slow blow fuses for all of 'em too. Thanks.

Re: Remove Control Box - Alternator

Sounds like a nightmare! I have to say this forum is the bees knees, it's a constant source of info. And I was planning on bridging all fuses with wire & testing the amps of each circuit individually to work out what fuse to use. What sortof leeway should I add, I was thinking 150% of max. curre...

Re: Remove Control Box - Alternator

Absolutely no need for 'relays' on the headlamps (why would there be??) - KISS (!) - but your fusing is still poor on the headlamps - a fuse blows, and you will be plunged into complete darkness. You need to fuse each filament independently - if you really feel you 'must'. Modern cars do this - but...

Re: Remove Control Box - Alternator

Tudge, I really like your wiring diagram. The colours make it very easy to follow. I wish I had it when I rewired Beatrice a few months ago. I fused my fuel pump too; a faulty pump with fuel, heat, and unlimited power seems like a bad combination)! Also I used relays on the headlamps (one for low b...

Re: Remove Control Box - Alternator

If the orange boxes are 'fuses' - then it is a VERY bad idea to run all the lights through one fuse...... If you decide to fuse the headlamps - use a separate fuse for each lamp. It's also not usual to fuse the Ignition coil, although no harm I suppose as long as you use a generous rating that won'...

Re: Remove Control Box - Alternator

Thanks for the replies, I've already been on this forum a little while, but somehow I knew bmc wouldn't approve... Is there no advantages to having a separate fuse for each circuit? To be honest, I just fancied doing something a little different as I won't be buying a premade wiring loom anyway... A...

Re: Remove Control Box - Alternator

Thanks MarkyB, I knew where it was, I was just confirming that it's only the fuel gauge that needed stabilisation. I've just drawn up a diagram for the proposed new wiring - can anyone see if I've made any silly mistakes or there any problems with it please tell me! I've tried to stick to british wi...

Re: Remove Control Box - Alternator

Sorry to resurrect the thread quite late, I'm planning on doing a similar thing to millerman, but using premade fuse boxes like these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-Power-in-6-way-Fusebox-fuse-blade-box-fuseholder-kit-car-boat-marine-landrover-/390580273031?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&has...

Re: Esm or bull motif

I haven't bought any panels from either of the companies, but in terms of service, I would go ESM. I did an order of parts a few weeks back, half from ESM, and half Bull Motif, at the same time, to compare the two companies. ESM - delivery within 2 days of the order, and no problems other than them ...

Re: Speedometer issue!

You could count actual tpm for your car if you have enough speedo cable left. Lay out a course of 52 ft. 9.5 inches, that's 1/100 of a mile. count your turns over that course and multiply by 100. And thanksfor the link - I've already had a read through - it says at one point that he's never had to ...

hi again, would this be a suitable replacement?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281167896673? ... 1438.l2649

I know it's from a mini, but it is 1408tpm, and I presume the same diameter and so will fit?
