Re: Boot Lock does not lock handle
Back to the question about re securing back together I drilled a hole in the square shaft just to the right of thr domed piece in your photo and put a split pin in it. I used a couple of washers to take up the play. There is a lot of clearance in the boot aperture so this does no foul. As an aside I...

Re: Brakes
I know I have posted this before but look closely at the flexis. My car sailed through a mot(wolseley 1500 fronts) buy were far from convining. Eventually changed thr flexis and the difference was significant, especially on hills . I would recommend you change all of them while you are doing this an...

Re: Boot Lock does not lock handle
Hi sorry i should have been clearer -the wear is on the casing that the handle rotates in. The barrel will probably be fine. If you go down the route of a replacement handle, you should be able to swap over the barrel and keep 1 key. Turning the handle upside down means the lock works on a different...

Re: Boot Lock does not lock handle
I found it was wear on the casing. I found i could get it to work by turning it upside down, but in the end i replaced the handle to bring back the originality.

I resolved a similar fault by changing all the HT leads and earth straps. I could not find anything wrong with the leads but they were all very old.

Re: Fitting a Brake Reservoir and or Disk Brakes
New shoes all around will take a few miles to bed in. I would keep going with the work you have done and rrive it for a couple of hundred miles 1st. Initial use of new shoes can be very poor as only a limited shoe area touches the drum.

Re: Poor starting after a few weeks
In a smiliar vain if you need to change the points I would not take the dizzy off the car. Its relatively easy to swap in situ, and avoids other issues that could go wrong if you remove the dizzy

Re: Poor starting after a few weeks
I am not sure how long you have had your car but the way I use the choke varys quite a lot in the colder weather. From cold I always start with full choke, but push it most of th way in when it starts in thr hot weather. After I drive it thr end of my road it goes fully in. This process takes longer...

Re: Sensible upgrades ??
I have 2 minors which are very lighly modified. I would recommend the following simple mods LED stop/tail (High quality ones) -15 minutes to swap these over and others can see you Front Halogens -if you ever use it at night, change to these and they are not expensive... Temperature gauge (this saved...

Re: Sensible upgrades ??
I would recommend fitting led stop tail bulbs. Quality ones are so much brighter-next time you follow a minor note how poor they are compared with other cars on the road. The same could be said for indicators but this is a bit more work. I would also consider a hazard warning light kit jus in case o...

I recall my dad's 62 had a metal clip. My 63vwas only a few months apart but it had a rubber clip. I have no reason to think its not original in both cases

Re: Eye bolt clearances
Shims arrived in the post today so I have experimented with a spare eye bolt and 2 different poly bushes I have used in the past (blueand green) in the workshop. Comparing them to a nos BMC rubber bush I found both shoulders to be narrower. The blue one was the thinnest. Using a shackle pin and fron...

Phil
This is a really interesting observation- have you seen/driven a system where this is an issue? I have a knock on my front suspension, and am wondering if this could be the issue.
