Re: Electronic Morris Minor
Back in July 2000, I went to view a Traveller Reg DEV551B and was amazed to hear the story behind it from the owner. Back in 1977, he converted it to run on electric power! I still have his written note of the conversion and the brief spec is as follows:- An Express Dairies milk float motor installe...

Re: Starting problems hot engine
Thank you for your replies. I will check and probably change the rotor and condenser as it is due for a service anyway. David, it is a Feb 1950 and believe the float bowl is close to the manifold. Based on what you have suggested and from other posts, it is probably down to fuel vaporisation. There ...

Starting problems hot engine
Hi. Went to start my series MM sidevalve today after 2 months of standing and she fired up on the 2nd turn. Went for a spin and stopped to get fuel after about a 5 mile run. In the time it took to fill up and pay, upon my return, she would turn over fine but just wouldn't start. Fuel pump clicking a...

Acorn nut needed
Hi
I require an Acorn nut and split washer for my recently acquired Lucas Q12 coil but I don't know which is the correct one.
Please could I have some advice and a recommended supplier. If anyone has a spare, that would be great.
Many thanks
Pete

Dried on waxoil removal. Help!
Hi
I have patches of waxoil which is dried on to the painted surface in the engine bay. It could possibly have been there for years!
Please could I have some tips as to how to remove it without damaging the paint.
Thank you.
Pete

Double wire radiator hose clip size
Hi
Please could I have the sizes for the original type double wire clips that secure both the top and bottom hoses to the radiator on my Lowlight. I understand that there is not a great amount of adjustment on these unlike the jubilee clips, so I want to be as precise as possible.
Thank you.

Re: Ignition bits, original fittings. Advice needed.
Hi Thank you for your replies on this subject. I have obtained the plug connectors and almost ready to convert back to original spec. I have noticed from the 'Original Morris Minor' publication (thanks Mike for the tip), that there seems to be a 'sleeve' or is it black electrical tape attached to th...

Re: Ignition bits, original fittings. Advice needed..
Thanks for the reply Mike. From the info you have provided, I am happy with the dizzy cap and black HT leads which are in situ. What I can't picture in my mind are the connections to the plugs and the coil. Please would it be possible to guide me to some photos that may be on the net with the correc...

Ignition bits, original fittings. Advice needed.
Hi,
Please could I have some help with regard to the correct type of ignition items that would have originally been fitted to a 1950 sidevalve.
What type of dizzy cap, leads and plug connectors is what I would like to know.
Thank you.
Pete.

Re: Exterior fittings.
Thanks Louise. I have had a close look at these and I am not sure on one of them. The 'Lucas' letters on the left one seems more prominent with a slightly different font and, unless it is the light, it seems a shade lighter in colour. Perhaps I am being picky, but the price is top dollar and as repr...

Re: Exterior fittings.
Thank you for your replies and advice. I would like to acquire a pair of original lenses if possible. Is there any specific markings ie Lucas stamp, date numbers etc that I need to check so I can tell the difference between the real thing and the reproductions? A photo of an original showing any mar...

Hi, Please could I have some guidence on the originality of two exterior parts on my Feb 1950 Lowlight. It is fitted with plastic rear Lucas L471 lenses, should these be glass ones? Also the number plate light unit which is a black plastic one, I assume this would have been metal but what type? Any ...

Re: Rear axle filler plug removal. Latest!
Hi again Thanks Mike for your suggestion which I attempted today, but without success. I assume it should come out the normal way ie anticlockwise, and not the opposite way round? I am also a little nervous not to break the thread and not being able to replace it. Any further suggestions would be ap...

Re: Split screen chrome surround, help. (Updated)
Hi
The 2nd quote has come in from the company recommended by two members. A much more attractive price of £90 plus postage, which I am estimating around £10 out and back. Turnaround times 4-5 weeks. I will be going ahead with it.
Thanks again for the help given.

Rear axle filler plug removal. Help!
Hi there, Please could I have some advice on how to remove the rear axle filler plug on my lowlight. I checked the location from the manual and after removing the rear seat then the circular cover, I found the square looking plug ( I think! ). How does it come out and what tool is best to use? Thank...

Re: Split screen chrome surround, help. (Updated)
Hi again. Thank you all for your suggestions and recommendations. I have received my first estimate which has come in at £280-£340 + VAT, in addition I would have to post the item and probably the cost for return. A little too expensive for me! The company suggested by two members has been contacted...

Split screen chrome surround, help. (Updated)
Hi there, My split screen metal surround is painted black and I have been advised that it is the original. I scraped off a small section of paint near the clip to find that the chrome was quite good. Brimming with anticipation that the rest would be ok, I decided to remove the complete two piece sec...
