Re: front seats
I recently moved the seats on my MM back so that I had to drill another hole behind the existing, using the last proper hole for the front bolt. The only minor (sic) problem was needing a loose nut under the rear most bolt, my arms were just long enough to get the inner nut on, I'm 6ft 3! The reinfo...

Re: MM tourer rear side screens
[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1469696932_14565 [/frame] This an interior shot of a newly recovered sidescreen. As you can see the top corner is well held and does not flap at all. The hood frame has four hoops. My old hood had I think a couple of snap fittings to hold the rear screen, b...

Re: What would that be?
Pradeep Firstly well done to get the Moggy ready for the wedding, it looks very fine. Be sure that the problems you have had are not unique to you!! Gaskets, I don't think I would use commercial cork on a car. Google it or try RAMS gaskets who make for vehicles etc and are suitably certified. As the...

Re: MM tourer rear side screens
Hood snap fasteners.
There are two, positioned into the wooden back rail, through the bottom of the hood. These need to align with two snap females on the hood bag, so their exact positioning will be unique to your car/hood bag.

Rob, surely the middle hoop must fit with the ends pointing downwards, certainly mine does. Its arch won't be in line with the front and rear otherwise.

Just a comment on the rear screens, they are not curved as you can see, were they this shape on early cars? They do fit under the fr...

Re: Trafficator wires
The indicator bulb in my switch did not work until, inspired by this thread, I connected 1 and 2 together with a small piece of wire and BINGO everything now works as it should. I replaced the switch recently after the old one failed totally.

Re: Early Vs Late hood frames
I have just had my new hood fitted here south of Maidstone in Kent. This was made by Don Hoods. I am delighted with the exercise. I had all bits, new hood, new hood bag and sidescreens re-covered. One advantage with Don is that they have the patterns for the MM. The fitter is a local chap in busines...

Re: Trafficator wires
To get the flasher working and the semaphore staying up you need two flasher units, one for each side of the car, and then on the supplies from the flasher unit a diode in each line to the semaphore. If it doesn't work first time then turn the diodes round (mine inevitably didn't). I also fitted a t...

Re: Engine trouble
Henk Maybe you should look at the timing. I have found that the best way to do it is to find a decent hill (maybe not so easy if you are in NL??) advance the dizzy just a little and then try it. Also the acceleration and top speed will improve significantly on the flat if it has been too retarded, a...

Re: Lowlight rear bumper bits
Rob Firstly dimensions. Distance between the two middle holes on the rear bar are 158mm measured to the edge of the hole nearest to the centre. On my front bar this is 163mm. My rear bar has a slight curve across it and is not flat, does this make it from a later car? The bar also is held onto the c...

Re: Lowlight rear bumper bits
Rob Mine are in bits at the moment, the bars freshly shot blasted and painted, the chrome polished, new bolts because most of them sheared when attempting to undo them. I took them off to improve the chrome plated and very rusty centre fill in plates. These are now abraded smooth and sprayed up in b...

On the subject of MIG gas I have recently, after many years, given up using BOC as my supplier. The rental is around £100pa and some years I didn't use it at all. There is a place in Margate which charges a £60 returnable deposit on a smaller cylinder, and even delivers free. Cylinder charge is £30....

Re: Brakes not used for 17 years
I agree with MarkyB, especially if the system is "dry". I've used silicon fluid for 30 odd years with no problems, firstly on a TR2 and now an MM. Have never had problems bleeding. I maybe refilled the TR once but that was because of other issues. Over time I'm sure it's actually cheaper! ...

Re: Buying a 1950 Morris Minor
Henk Good to hear you have bought the MM, best of luck. That's a good price for a 'runner'. With regard to spares, firstly don't ever throw anything away, it might be repairable. Lots of the parts are the same as later cars. All the engine threads are metric so buy yourself a selection of nuts &...

Re: Front brake Cylinders for MM
The cylinders are easy to clean-up. A finger with fine emery wrapped around it is a suitable tool! To get the cylinder out I use a grease gun and an adaptor made from a bolt with a hole right through and a grease nipple threaded into the head end. I don't remember the thread size but probably UNF. R...

ESM are just a short drive south from me. If you were to see their stock you would appreciate how much they actually hold, and its value!! They do own the press tools for Minor panels, but these actually reside with a company that owns the presses and does the pressing. I guess that they purchase a ...
