Re: Classic Breakdowns!
I see what you mean about the bumper looking lighter than the car (grey primer?). Still looks like a continuous rear edge to the valance so guessing a spacer/fillet section is there but assembled with the chrome blades on top - a debatably logical way to build one up if you're unfamiliar with the fa...

Re: Classic Breakdowns!
That lowlight bumper looks like its been assembled incorrectly, with the chrome blades over the top of the fillet. Goodness knows why - a replacement part assembled wrong perhaps? Does look a little like one of the prototype pics though, but obviously not as its a '50/51 reg...

Re: Adderley Park Traveller's
Up to 215 now. Mark, amount excludes those built in 1969 Wonder whether laminated rear posts were introduced upon the formation of BLMC? We've got to bounce ideas here, were laminated thingy's any cheaper to produce, or easier to construct? A lot easier and cheaper in materials, as can be made out ...

Anyone seen 'The Indian Doctor' drama series? Features a black late 1000 pickup with a false plate to make it more like an early 60s model.

Re: The World is your Lobster
As far as I can recall, it was built by Henrics of Nottingham for a childrens TV programme (which may or may not have seen the light of day) and then retained and rallied by them for publicity purposes. Then when they sold out to LMC Hadrian the car was included in the deal and was stored at their H...

Re: Adderley Park Traveller's
As far as quality of steel was concerned, I can remember a very respected restorer telling me years ago that up to 1963 the British motor industry had used (as he put it) "Virgin Steel" - i.e. new, freshly smelted steel - for all structural and body panels - from 1964 there was a percenta...

Re: Adderley Park Traveller's
I'd take that wikepedia comment with a big pinch of road salt....
Can't imagine any wings being pressed out of 1.4mm steel - be very difficult on such a deep draw pressing. All seem to be around 1mm, unless a new pattern wing which are noticeably thinner - more 0.8mm or 22g...

Re: Adderley Park Traveller's
Only constructional difference I can think of on later travellers, is the laminated rear pillar (when did they start?), but the majority will have had new wood by now and any originals still about either need replacing or have survived well and need preserving. Body shells will be identical...

Re: marina kingpin savers?.i
Are you referring to the Walford trunnions which were available for Marinas? May still be available, not sure. I've just got a pair of old stock ones for my Marina pickup. General idea is to clean and degrease lower thread on suspension leg. Screw on the adaptor sleeve with thread lock as tight as p...

Easier in a convertible - you place trunk in rear foot well and just stand it up. With hood down and a warm coat on obviously!

Re: the red stripe
Cat amongst the pigeons time... Even closer inspection of Max reveals I have a combination of pin-stripes. Bonnet R/H side goes all the way to the forward end of the moulding. Bonnet L/H side stops about 2.5" short. Both tapered nicely. Rear ends are the same length. One tapered and one straig...

Re: Repair panels recommended suppliers
I doubt if any wings were made in 1.4 mm steel (16g). It'd be difficult for such a deep draw pressing and not needed for a non structural panel. Genuine old ones seem to be around 1mm and pattern new ones less, probably 22g as many modern car panels are. Those are the ones with super sharp edges to ...

Re: the red stripe
I used one of those 'rollers' that applies paint as it rolls, gave a beautiful line with no 'ridge' along the edges. Guided by the swage line along the body. But! I couldn't achieve the tapered ends - so wiped it all off! Alan I've got one of those and it needed quite a bit of practice to taper the...

Re: new addition to the fleet
That's a gorgeous and delightful car! As a restorer I can really appreciate one that hasn't had and doesn't need any work... Number plates will be orig too: All styles of letters were available at the time, it was just down to what the dealer supplied. As for Clarendon grey, I'm toying with the idea...

Re: Morris Minor Music
At the moment, my everyday Minor van has no headlining, carpet, or even baffles in the exhaust so way too noisy to think about having a radio in it, or even to think at all come to that! Prior to that, had radios, cd players etc in most of my Minors and tended to lean towards '80s rock ballads etc v...

Clever way to sell a log book
Ebay number
202102942767
Don't think it infringes any rules, not that ebay care anyway and its not a current v5 anyway, but the inference is there that you could apply for a current V5.

Re: Had a good laugh at this today...
I've had three land crabs over the years, all 2200 versions - just what turned up. Really enjoyed them and didn't keep them long enough for them to have problems. Bit low geared being 4 speed, and same final drive ratio as an 1800 but the turbine smooth 'six' would rev enough to worry sales reps in ...

My 1st was a Minor van SOO386K. Transport for student days, and into working life... Still have it too, but been semi retired for the last 10 years or so and looks forlornly at me form the back of the workshop whilst I work on other vehicles....

Was sorry to have missed that one. Did it two years ago, on the Saturday, and really enjoyed it, then went down to Gaydon for the Classic Van and Pickup rally for Sunday, but this year, the Land Rover is still mid engine rebuild so nothing to tow the caravan with, so we settled for a day trip to Gay...

I can remember the halcyon days when this website would host the pics and you didn't have to use a third party photo hosting site.... Realistically, there must be other places and ways to host pics to link to here, (I've not looked to be honest) and all the disgruntled and ex photobucket users can s...
