Re: Who's had the Covid vaccine? Anyone going to refuse it?

It gets worse. Now in Germany there is a temp stop to issueing AZ. This morning it was reported that UK had only 51 cases of side effects and that with far more numbers being vaccinated - so nothing untoward. The question is why have there been possible serious problems elsewhere after the AZ vaccin...

Re: Who's had the Covid vaccine? Anyone going to refuse it?

Not sure why that is a sign of weakleadership? Anyway Denmark and Norway are sovereign countries and can decide what they want. So too Holland , I read this morning. My Doctor step son tells me that his "industry" are sceptical that AZ did not do sufficient trials before the vaccine was su...

Re: Who's had the Covid vaccine? Anyone going to refuse it?

Hallo Owlsmann, the short answer to your question is that I do not know. Our "problem" if that it can be called is that Germany is comprised of Federal States and they have responsibility for organising the impfzentrum etc within their areas. The central government ( the Bund) powers are l...

Re: Who's had the Covid vaccine? Anyone going to refuse it?

I doubt that Frau Merkel would do a live TV vaccination - she is not into US american style sensationalism, it is just not her style. Also she would be open to accusations of queue jumping as she is not yet 80. It must be old news about the over 65s and AZ vaccine, it has already been given the go a...

Re: Who's had the Covid vaccine? Anyone going to refuse it?

Thanks for theupdate and info. Just a minor correction, it was not the Government itself that gave AstraZenica bad reviews but the interpretation of our media. I get some inside info from my step-son who is an Allgemeiner Mediziner ( GP I think with you) . Apparantly the Euro as well as the national...

Re: Who's had the Covid vaccine? Anyone going to refuse it?

We both had our first jab last Saturday. TIP: if one of you gets an invitation, then ask if your other half can be done at the same time. Quite correctly, the doses are allocated to those most in need, but there are usually one or two "no shows", and if your other half is on a reserve lis...

Re: Which seat base?

All met Morris Minor Pandas were fitted with the rubber diaphragm to take account of large bums. I never knew of any failures and they did take a lot of punishment. Really? My experience is the opposite . The steel insert wire rips out after very little use and then you have to discard it. The stra...

Re: Saluting good customer service

also praise from me - always used to get stuff from them in 3 Days to Germany. They did send in error a few years back an order to a freinds house in England where a previous order had been sent to which I collected during a visit. They offered to resend it to me here which was a super service but m...

Re: Replacing Timing Chain

Your biggest problem will probably getting the old sprockets and front pulley off. You can buy the three arm extractors quite cheaply these days - often not the best quality tools but for occaisional use ok. Set the Crank to TDC before you start, then all the marks will then be aligned.

Re: Out with the Old, In with the Not quite as Old!

We had in Germany a couple of days ago a unique weather situation. Apparantly very rare. The south had almost spring like temps at 15° and the north snow blizzards and -10°. This is the same snow front that stretched over to you in the island. I live exactly on the border between the two extremes an...

Re: Damned fuel gauge

By removing the sender wire from the tank connection and earthing it, the gauge should then read full. That would indicate all is ok with the gauge and its elektrics . If it does not, then the investigations can begin.

Re: over reading speedo

This may be useful if it applies. When I did my LHD conversion, having the speedo read mainly in MPH and the odometer also in Miles was pretty impractical when all around is in km. I got hold of a speedo from a Mini which was an "800" version. Having installed it, it recorded alarmingly hi...

Re: Are hazard lights a hazard to Moggies?

I have this fitted to my 68 Traveller - not from ESM but the same model. The instructions and wiring diagrammes are quite clear on how to make the connections to the flasher unit etc. It is only a matter of doing it neatly to not have stray wires dangling everywhere and the unit/switch mounted on th...

Do you not find that a metal lever or Schrewdriver scratches the paintwork on the wheel rim? I got fed up with that and now use a nylon lever.

Like Phil, I used Fertan for a long time and still do whilst I have some left. However I am more impressed by the BRunox rust converter. Here is a sales link - I assume it is available in GB. https://www.korrosionsschutz-depot.de/rostschutz-und-lacke/roststopper/brunox-epoxy/brunox-epoxy-100-ml The ...

Re: knocking on start up

Also had the same problem (albeit on my Triumph Herald) together with a rumble/ sort of pinking sound, with only the slightest acceleration attempt running at 70kmh . Cutting a long story short from all the other things I did, I had the crank reground and this totally eliminated the noise and led to...

Same experience with my traveller too. I have noticed that when I tank with super plus (98 octane) I get more km out of a tankful. Our minors are very well cooled in normal circumstances so perhaps the higher temps around the exhaust valves which are supposed to come from unleaded, may not be so sig...

Re: Steering rack grease nipple photo

The suppliers of new steering racks - it was for me anyway - neither have grease nipples nor blanking plugs installed. and supposedly are sealed for life. Mine came with "Made in Argentina" on the packaging. It works quite satisfactory now but at first was very stiff to operate. I ended up...
