Ref chickenjohn's comment on 27th Jan Without a water pump the series mm engine is cooled by thermosyphon cooling. Hot water in the engine rises and flows out through the top hose into the radiator where it cools and flows back into the engine through the bottom hose. That is why the Series MM has s...

indicators
Just seen your bit on fitting indicators. The most popular option is to use traveller / van rear indicators and hang them on brackets from the bumper mounting irons front and rear underneath the bumpers. discreet but effective. Can be wired to the orignal switch with the trafficators by using a flas...

Series MM Water Pump
From your photo you have an early MM engine type USHM2 with no provision for a water pump. A fan belt driven accessory was available but is very rare. From the look of the engine I would concentrate on getting it running before spending money on a pump. I have a set of drawings for the pump andI can...

David You don't say what colour your car is. Piping was only fitted to the rear wings on later cars. I didn't know it was a different thickness, but I would not have thought that anyone would notice when it was fitted. Don't know about the engine paint. Mine is a sort of battleship grey, but maybe t...

Lowlight Production
It is not possible to say how many lowlights were produced. The 1st production highlight was SMM 16***, DUD693 in 1949. It still exists. Highlights were produced 1st for the N. American market in 1949, then for the new 4 doors in 1951 and finally for the 2 doors and tourers. There are still plenty o...

Series MM Brakes
The early Series II cars were indeed fitted with Series MM brakes. Try club spares. Try GPA Engineering, tel 01625 527062 for reconditioning pistons. Alternatively, fit 803/948 backplates and pistons with Series MM drums.
