Re: Brakes pulling to right

A neat little trick I use to balance the adjustment is to jack up the front of the car then use an adjustable steering wheel crook lock between the seat and the brake pedal to apply force to the pedal. With a modest amount of pressure on the pedal try and turn each front wheel. You will prob find th...

Re: Transmission Vibration between 30 and 45mph

Get the propshaft professionally balanced at the same time you replace the joints. I have had props that look perfect which had a tiny amount of imbalance which caused exactly the symptoms you describe

Drum Brake Adjustment

Quick question - when backing off the adjusters after locking the wheel up do you need to get it so that the wheels spins completely freely, or is it ok to have the shoes brushing a little?

Good result but why replace only 7 valves? Why not do the lot while you're at it?

Re: engine coolant flushing

Running a hose through doesn't always clear all the crud, even if the water runs clear after a while. Run the engine up to temp for twenty minutes or so with a coolant flushing agent in the system, then drain and run the hose through and if necessary use a flushing agent again. I did this on one of ...

Re: Possibly the wrong area but oil light staying on..

If you're not getting nasty clunks and rattles from the engine it could be as simple as a failed sender. Try a new sender and if still happening hook up an oil pressure gauge to check.

Re: Fuel line blockage

Sounds like the outlet at the tank is clogged, prob with residue from the old fuel. Take off the fuel line and have a bit of a poke gently with something

Re: Failure to fire on all cylinders after driving a distance

It sounds a bit like a fuel vaporisation issue, but if it only started after the service that's probably not going to be it. Certainly something getting hot and causing the problem.

Re: Help please getting a new engine to start

Nice pics! What are the two relays for?

I had a similar problem when I rebuilt my engine. Turned out I hadn't shoved the lead from the coil to the dizzy far enough down into the coil and it wasn't making contact. Drove me nuts for about three hours!

I agree with Roy, nothing to worry about. Drum brakes are hardly the most precise examples of engineering. Just adjust the shoes accordingly.

Re: why does my minor vibrate over 45 ?

Agree, get those bolts replaced but can also highly recommend new Uni Joints and balance the propshaft. Did this to mine a few years back and such a huge difference. Car was transformed, no vibrations whatsoever

Re: Engine knocking

Is it a "knock" or a "tap"? Generally speaking a tapping would indicate something in the top end (valves etc) and a knock more likely down the bottom (main bearings etc). "Pinking" is more like a bunch of ball bearings rattling in a can, and is usually only heard when h...

Re: 803 rebuild progress

I have finally had time to fit the restrictor to my 803. I can see what you mean about the hole size on the filter -it was huge compared to the restrictor. The gauge on my car is the same as an MM, not terribly accurate but the pressure seems a little better than before (readings with a hot engine) ...

Re: (I'm picking up) BAD VIBRATIONS

Find a longish hill with not much traffic and coast down with engine switched off. If the vibration is still present it won't be your flywheel/clutch etc.

I think I'm going to have to go along with the consensus here and say that it must be in that new diff you had fitted.

Re: (I'm picking up) BAD VIBRATIONS

These vibrations can drive you absolutely crazy. On my Series II it was propshaft and uni joints. Once straightened and balanced with new joints the difference was astonishing - it felt like a modern car! On my EJ Holden (Kind of like a PB Cresta) I had a very bad shake at 40 mph plus, got intolerab...

Re: (I'm picking up) BAD VIBRATIONS

One other thing you could try. Undo the propshaft from the diff, rotate it 180 degrees and re attach. Make sure all four bolts are done up evenly and the end of the shaft is square on the diff mount.

Re: (I'm picking up) BAD VIBRATIONS

Unusual for it to be the diff, unless the front pinion bearing is shot and allowing the shaft to bounce around when its turning - My money is on the propshaft. I have had two cars in the last couple of years with this issue. Once the shaft is professionally straightened & balanced and new joints...

Re: (I'm picking up) BAD VIBRATIONS

It will be the propshaft and/or Uni joints. Been through this with both my cars recently. Get the propshaft balanced and have new joints fitted, that should solve your problem.
