Re: HIF44 carburetor
The mixture screw is connected to a bi-metal strip which alters the mixture for the choke. It should never require turning by more than a quarter of a turn in or out. If you try to richen the mixture by screwing it too far in, you will bend the bi-metal strip which will weaken the mixture.

Re: Heater valve !
Yes, it can fit 180 deg round, but then the outlet would have pointed at the rocker cover.oliver90owner wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 11:06 pm Paul,
Is the base only able to fit in one orientation? Could it not have been turned 180 degrees?

I would suggest that a 'Dowty' seal would be no good as a seal between the tap and the base due to the indentations in the base of the ESM tap. https://www.morrisminorspares.com/cooling-system-heater-c52/radiator-cooling-heating-c53/heater-valve-kit-manual-type-p1238127 A soft copper washer which i...

Morning Mike I can't remember the size but you just need to measure the threaded part of the tap. Have a look at https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=372312&vat_inc=true&gclid=CjwKCAiA-P7xBRAvEiwAow-VaXOo4BUW01ARU_ZCY3xthe5Xtn3lBX3Yd43YN6v-TT-t0htRJEx0mBoCztEQAvD_Bw...

Re: Heater valve !
I fitted a bonded seal washer between the brass tap and the base plate, this allow the tap to be rotated into the correct position on the threaded base plate.

Can you fit a DTI to the front pulley and then measure the play in the crank thrust bearings by pressing the clutch and seeing how much the crank moves forward?

Re: no brake pressure
First thing is, did you adjust the rear brakes? if so, did you slacken the handbrake cables first? If you did, you could try lightly clamping the rear brake hose and then testing the peddle, this will tell you if your problem is the front or the back.

I kept mine outside, under a cover for 12 months. I made sure that I took the cover off most days, especially when it was put onto a wet car. It was ok but not ideal. Also, the car windscreen would mist up every time I went out.

It may be better to use a van or pickup as they are built on a chassis.

Are you sure that there is no play in the rack ball joints as Phil has suggested above? To test this you need to jack a front wheel, secure with an axle stand and test for play by pulling and pushing the front and rear of the wheel (not the top and bottom) Quote: 2. The ball joints at the end of the...

How old is the battery? The standard dynamo should supply plenty of power unless your running things like heated screens.

I would clean and build up the worn area with weld deposit, weld with TIG, gas or arc (but not MIG or MAG) then file the bar back to round and reuse.

As mentioned earlier, I have the same noise at the same speeds but a bit quieter. So this morning I placed a straight edge across the alternator pully to see how it lined up with the crankshaft pully and the water pump. (straight edge on the crankshaft pully, all is in line). The indication was that...

The problem that you have Neil is that once the crush spacer has been crushed to length, it is impossible to re-crush it to the same length. You need to crush a new one or you will be still trying to get the correct tension next year. I would be tempted to purchase a few as you may over crush the fi...
