I think that poor quality,aftermarket ,shoes can cause problems like this . Mintex seem to be worth paying a bit extra for.

I guess there’s only so much that you can do to safeguard these cars, and it could soon become obsessive to the point where the joy of ownership becomes compromised.

Reading some old posts, I see that the legendary bcc ecosse recommended using a simplex kit with tensioner to reduce noise rather than switching to duplex.

I think it’s horses for courses.... we can do ,or not do, whatever we choose to our cars. Provided it’s legal of course :D.
And the degree to which we ‘improve’ them depends upon personal taste and how the car will be used.
