And get one of them wrap around magnet things on the filter body to trap the metallicy bits. Whatever oil you use, it works better the cleaner it is. Regards, MikeN.

Just thought but consider rear wheel balance. It often gets forgotten for ages and naturally doesn't show up on the steering wheel! But it gives a cycle of thrum that comes and goes. As the rear wheels are always very slightly different diameters the out of balnce on them goes in and out of phase gi...

Do as the Millerman says, Wibble! I've had an 88C in for 4 years/40k miles and had no trouble - I'm thinking of going to a 92C. For an example, on last Thursday my 1098 Traveller did Andover to Newcastle on T, 300miles loaded and towing a trailer at 60-70 mph (GPS checked) where ever possible and go...

Thanks for the advice, comrades! Time to order some tyres and have go, and if its all too much, down to Mr Mew the blacksmith!. (A regular for him is changing tractor wheels often out in fields stuck on the end of a giant plough. And then back home with the wheel to change the tyre - no easy job. Do...

Sorry Willie!
Nov 16th last year I see. So much on this item I lost the thread of it! (Sorry about that.) But it wasn't till I saw an installation I fully understood it and realised how simple it was. Regards, MikeN.

Cor! Don't like the sound of that!
It sometimes needed a bit of jumping up and down on the tyre, but if well soaped they always gave in eventually. Do radials have tighter beading? Does it always need one of those air driven rotating tyre lever thingies? MikeN.

Just seen that today is Pride Day! Hope it all went well, Kate. Suppose you're resting now. Ashamed to say that I saw a good idea a couple of months ago that much reduces the fuel vaporisation problem and forgot to pass it on. Ian Bewster, a member out a Wellyn (?) Changing tyres yourself

Greetings comrades! I've not changed tyres for 20 years, and then they were motorcycles or pre-war cars running on crossplys - what's it like doing it on Minors? The reason I'm interested is that the cheapest around here are from ATS at about £45, but if I supply them (say from Bull Motif at £25) th...

Thanks for your advice, friends! I'll take a chance and use the diesel oil and see what happens - push back the frontiers of science and all that. Oil pressure with 20w/50 at the slowest idle thats reliable (and a bit lumpy) is about 10/15 psi when the oil's about 75C (measured with a thermometer dr...

Diesel oil in a 1098 - OK?

Greetings comrades! My manager has just bought herself a VW Touran that still has a couple of year's warranty, a condition of which is to be garage serviced. I've a few gallons of diesel oil left over from the previous Zafira and I see no reason not to use it the Traveller (its standard condition, i...

Thanks for help folks. I was trying to put up piccies via one of these specialist sites (RogerRust's?, I've forgotten which) and got this image thing. But this image thing turns up here quite often, and I can never open them. Am I missing some software? My daughter suggests that pop-up excluders mig...

Pete,
Don't want to add to your woes, but when Rosie started up in front of me on the dockside, she seemed to emit far more water vapour than anyone else and more than I'd expect for a warm engine on a mild day. MikeN.

Good old Peetee!
You reminded me that I'd got some Rain-X somewhere in the garage whose valued I've always doubted. On your say-so I've put it on - and its really good! I think it also reduces the friction between the blades and screen so thay sweep better when it almost dry.
Anyway, taa! MikeN.
