Re: I couldn't believe it!

Shouldn't those wheels be body colour?
And the back wheels have too much camber - it'll handle like a pig (appologies to any Sylvanian pigs out there).

Re: I found a series MM or very early series 2, West Cornwall

I wonder if that is the same car that was owned by a bloke I knew at college at Redruth in 1990? He had driven it down from London on the original engine and pretty much killed it so replaced it with a later lump.
Small world.

Re: Isle of Wight

anyone know of any ferry offers over there? Good luck finding one.I travelled over daily for 7 years. the ferry companies have that route tied up tighter than a pully nut. I'd very much recommend the Lymington route over Southampton or Portsmouth. You get a nice drive through the New Forest before ...

Re: Quandary - should I or not

It's been there 8 years. Why not a few more? Thinking back to when my kids were small I did have a different outlook then and as they have got older I have found I have taken on jobs I never thought I would get the enthusiasm or time for. If it's not in the way keep it.

Never heard of a manufacturers plate.
Do you mean the dealers plates that were fitted to some cars?

Re: Morris soft top buying advice please

Perhaps i should clarify:

Code: Select all

probably as close to new as you will ever find
This is misleading as it suggests the car retains original features.

I thinks its fair for the more experienced here to highlight the sort of advertising that can lead the less experienced people into a unsuitable purchace.

Re: Oh god what have I done??

I find a compost heap with a piece of carpet on top is very useful in such situations. It 'gives' in a very satisfying way when jumped upon or struck violently with a variety of firm objects and the sound given off can be very apealing too.

PS. please cheak for snoozing wildlife first.

Re: Morris soft top buying advice please

This is the sort of car a purist should avoid. It might be an original convertable but it's not in original specification: It has later wings and sidelights at the front, stainless steel sill finisher and what looks like stainless steel side window surrounds and door tops. Putting it bluntly, the ad...

Re: Ignition Barrel No

Good luck if you do find a number. I got two keys cut to the number on mine (which matches the No on the original key) and they don't work or look anything like the original!

Re: Astra 1.3 CDTi

I can vouch for the frugality of the 1.9TDi VW engine. I never saw less than 55mpg out of my Passat. Given the size of it, translating that mpg to something little like a Corsa should give you a minimum of around 80mpg.
Is that possible? I wonder. :-?

major laptop problems

HELP! I'm a total 1/4 wit when it comes to PC problems and my laptop has contracted a virus which calls itself 'windows diagnostic' clearly trying to pretend it's legitimate. It sits at the front of your screen regardless of what you do, hides every other program you try to use and appears to have w...

there's red white and blue stones coming out of it now!
Are they really tiny? I have seen this sort of stuff in a car that has been treated with coolant flush. I assumed it was a grit that helps scrape the deposits away.

I Bought a Wolseley diff from ebay not so long ago and had to return it. I hope it's not the same one. It looked fine but the planet gear bearings were worn and loose.
