Re: JVX 631C - Search for Morris Minor!

.... and sometimes people don't inform DVLA when a car has been broken up. I hope that's not the case and it's just temporarily off the road. The DVLA records are full of ghosts, because scrapping of vehicles was so uncontrolled in the past. This is the record for a Sky Blue Vauxhall Viva GLS that ...

Re: No problem starting, but can’t stop!

OK,
Sounds like a simple Ignition Switch change, unless the previous owner has wrongly connected something.

I assume a 1957 S3 isn't that different from my 1955 SII, so just a 2 position key switch?

Mike/Jagnutt66 has pretty much covered it.

Re: Advice Required

As I understand the chronology of the Steering Wheel Horn Push, it is something like... Up to 1956, Horn in Centre of Wheel. 57 to 59, Horn on stalk. 59 - 71, Horn back in Centre of Wheel. As the Latter 2 Spoke Wheel only arrived in 64, you'll see there is a 2-3 yr period where the Banjo Wheel did n...

Re: alternator overcharging

Well, that's really odd. I've never heard of a Meter being affected by a lack of suppression on the HT, but then I suppose if they can cause a pulse 'click' on a radio they can affect an unshielded meter. As to wiring Colours, I owe you an apology. The Diagram I found that comes with a typical Conve...

Re: alternator overcharging

1.) You mention 3 brown/blue but I only have 2? Well hopefully you're mistaken, because there should be 3 Br/Bl and only one Br. If you're right, someone has rewired it with non standard colours, at least in part, so you're really in trouble... 2.) Yes the brown/green is being used for the s...

Re: alternator overcharging

Ummm... Trying to keep a logical sequence to all this. As I read your past posts, this has worked fine for a few months since you brought the car. You believe the battery has been damaged by over charging. Your multimeter shows 13-18v at the Battery posts when engine running. I think something is ac...

Re: alternator overcharging

Well I'm sure he can make up his own mind whether to take the old one apart or simply do a voltage check at the Sensing connection..... The fault initially appeared after several thousand miles of use, and you're suggesting that the replacement has the same fault straight out of the box. Now what ar...

Re: alternator overcharging

The loose wire I mentioned above was the sense wire, inside the alternator, I would take your old one off and check it, it may be a common fault. Yes, however he's changed the Alternator for a new one and the fault has remained exactly the same; thus baring the replacement having been damaged in tr...

Re: alternator overcharging

Well from that feedback, I would say it's very likely that there is a loose or dirty connection somewhere on that sensing line which is causing a volts drop resulting in the Alternator over volt. it'll be something that's happened fairly recently. it might even just be the connection onto the Altern...

Re: alternator overcharging

Wohhh There... You've most likely got a car wiring fault! The Alternator is outputting what it senses your car needs. You've said that your car has NOT used the Voltage Regulator as the junction box, but you've obviously got something as a junction box. However, I'll use the 'more usual' diagram to ...

Interesting topic, not something that affects us as both our modern cars are Diesel.
There's no word yet on increasing the 7% Bio mix in that.

MikeC
Does that mean you found this in the 'extra bits box'?
As already mentioned, you'll still need the cross member, but that should be the easy bit to fabricate.

Re: Morris Minor inner supports??

Mike The mangled ebay Bonnet in the USA that Mike (jagnut66) linked to might be an option; insomuch that if it doesn't sell, perhaps you can get them to send you the bits you need at a much lower price. I'd contact that seller and ask them for a photo of the underside of that mangled item. it might ...

Re: Morris Minor inner supports??

Mike, it certainly looks as though your bonnet (hood  ) is missing the cross member, which goes across at about the 1/3 from the rear, so I would expect to see it in your image. This isn't mine, I just borrowed the image from ebay... Bonnet Brace 1.JPG If you haven't got one already, I ...

Re: differences between 1000 and 1098

Logbook stats may 1963 morris 1000 convertible and engine states 1098 on logbook, so does this mean that although listed as a Morris 1000 it covers 948 and 1098 engines as well ? I hope I've clarified myself properly 🤦‍♂️ Right, descriptions in Log Books can be wrong, it was a common thing to get v...

Re: differences between 1000 and 1098

Well for starters, if it's a 63, it should be a 1098, because the change over from 948 to 1098 was Sep 62..... :-?

All Minors, after SII are '1000' models, whether 948 or 1098 cc.... :-? :-?

Would you like to clarify your question....
