Re: Smiths Heater Replacement
Capacity of the Cooling System, including heater, from the workshop manual data (heater is basically an extra pint). MM (doesn't have a heater figure given) 13¼ Pints Series II - 10¾ Pints (approx6 ltrs) 1000 - 9¾ Pints (approx 5.5 ltrs) So it depends how much fluid was left in the rest of the syste...

Re: Flasher Unit Relay
This is how the conventional, bi-metalic strip 3 pin Flasher works. The electronic one should replicate this without relying on the current draw of the circuit and the heater aspect. Flasher.JPG P = little indicator lamp inside car, wherever that is dash, stalk etc X = live 12v L = output that goes ...

Re: Master Cylinder ID?
Thanks guys. I'm just thinking that I changed all the wheel cylinders earlier in the year and it got me thinking about the Master. I'm assuming it's been untouched since the car was last 'restored' in 2009, but whether the original was left in at that point, or it was replaced, possibly from the car...

Master Cylinder ID?
So, most of us know that the Brake Master Cylinder for some reason or other, changed internal bore from 7/8" to 13/16" in 1962. A whole 1/16" difference.... My car is a '55, but I know has had all sorts of bits changed over the years including having latter, post '62, 8" b...

It's only a small air gap though, 10mm (3/8") from the top of the cover.

I guess it depends on the combination of Engine, G/box and Diff, but yes, my minor happily pulls away in 2nd, which saves me changing 1st to 2nd within a couple of car lengths....

Re: Smiths Heater Replacement
:) One of those expressions you either know or you don't. :) Essentially it means flush it through in the reverse of the normal flow. Your car is probably the same as mine. Heater pipes..JPG Basic principle 1 - Close Tap A. 2- Remove Rad Cap, and refit with a section of plastic bag over the hole. Th...

Re: Smiths Heater Replacement
If the pipework isn't gunked up I would expect as hot as the engine water. My Tudor really belts out the heat. When I first fitted a temp gauge I could drop the temp by a couple of needle widths by opening the heater flaps and putting the blower on. You could try back flushing it with a hose. This i...

Re: Smiths Heater Replacement
Well I can't be too much help as my '55 has an after market Tudor heater, which has a separate rheostat rather than it being built into the heater case. But, if the hot water is getting through, can you not disturb a lot less and leave the heater matrix alone? As I understand it, the heater case is ...

Re: Search Facility
Why doesn’t the mmoc find another host ? To do so seems so obvious, that I feel I must be missing something. It can’t be a financial reason. As I understand it, from what I have put together from the various comments over recent years, the main problem is not especially the 'Hosting'; it's the host...

It's been like that since before the 500 Error crash last night.
I PM's Admin Mike with a heads up about it and he reported it to our 'wonderful' hosting company.... I had hoped the 500 Error was because they were sorting it out....obviously in vein ....

Re: Dynamic timing conundrum
I must admit I have around the same, about 20 ish deg. I've always felt the Dissy was a bit out, but as the car runs fine I've never got around to trying to mess with it. I've loads of experience years ago with 'regular' Dissy fitment on Fords & Vauxhalls, where the cog is directly on the end of...

I'll have a look for a rivet on the distributor rotor? Would you point me in the right direction on where on the distributor rotor the rivet is? Jaekl is referring to this: https://www.mmoc.org.uk/Messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=54989#p516108 Also see this: http://www.distributordoctor.com/rotor_arms....

Re: Help - no headlights!
Geoberni, your engine bay looks much tidier than ours 😂- the photo is really useful My car is far too old for a separate fuse, I looked that up online to post for you, since from what you described, it was the most likely area of concern, if your car was a latter model. This is the same area on my ...

Re: Help - no headlights!
Well neither the Distributor nor it's Cap has anything to do with your lights, it's only function is to distribute the Sparks to the Engine.... so forget that completely. You haven't said what year the car is (you might have mentioned it in a past post, but I'm not going searching for the info). Lat...
