Re: Fuel starvation? Poorly pump? Electrical Gremlin?

The vehicle involved had a tank breather but it was kinked partially blocking it. It was OK for normal running but couldn't cope with the sudden rush of pressure, maybe the vented cap could cope but I think it's wise to remove it anyway.

Re: Filling in gaps next to glass on traveller rear door?

I use Tigerseal quite a lot, sealing windscreens and seams etc - I used a thin bead when I put the sliding window channels back in between the channel and waist rail (previous owner had used silicone and I couldn't get Dum Dum quickly). Sticks very well and seals a treat so should do well on your re...

Re: Fuel starvation? Poorly pump? Electrical Gremlin?

Just remember if you do blow the fuel line back with compressed air to take the filler cap off, you don't want to pressurise the tank. A mate of mine did this, there was a lake of of petrol on the floor that had squirted out of the open end when he took the air line off - on his own, locking petrol ...

Re: help morris gold engine ID

Not long after I got Ted the Traveller I had course to slam on when a car pulled out on me :-? The front brakes (drums) locked as I stamped on the pedal, on a dry road, so I reckon they are as good as you can get for standard Minor brakes, better brakes will just make the wheels lock up sooner. If y...

Re: Engine Breathing 1969 1098cc

The view under your bonnet was very familiar as Ted the Traveller's PCV is missing too with a piece of hose blanking the manifold stub off and the breather is piped to the carb. So I'm on the look out for a PCV too.

Re: Ignition problems, no spark

Just a couple of thoughts. You changed the HT leads but does that include the king lead? Have the points closed up, are the wires to the points definitely under the insulator - that same Viva I had would only run with those two wires a certain way around on the post for some reason :-?

Re: Hello From Me and Ted

Thank you :) I only had a piece of wood 60cm long and 70mm square to work with so I was lucky with the match, but I did have four sides and two ends to choose from

I'm not so sure, the Arctic, the Moon and Mars are on Street View so it wont be long before they plumb the depths

Re: Perhaps a more serious subject though for anyone targeted!

Worrying indeed. Another thing to consider is Street View, the view of my house gives a lovely shot of my Commer camper and, because the software designed to conceal number plates doesn't work on black and silver plates, that's on full view as well

Re: Ignition problems, no spark

I did have a very similar problem on a Viva years ago, it happened just after a full service. Took me ages to find that the shiny new condenser was faulty - popped the old one back in and vroooom.

Re: Help! Engine installing problem!

A piece of steel plate, 1/4" would probably be OK, big enough to cover the base of the mounting tower and the mounting holes in the chassis. drill four holes in the plate to match the chassis mounting holes and bolt it in, then mark the plate through the holes in the tower. Drill the holes and ...

Re: Hello From Me and Ted

I'm used to grovelling around with oily bits and a welding set but my woodworking skills are usually confined to putting up shelves, but I finally started prodding at Teds soft bits. Before I knew it this http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/panky_2007/Ted/Teds%20Timber/2014-08-25131046.jpg tuned...
