Re: Windows steaming up.......
Thanks for the info/tips guys. Why didn't I think about breathing less, whilst driving? :D The air vent flap is on the 'winter setting' now i.e. closed so that's the first thing I'll try, by opening it. My 'winter-setting' routine also includes turning on the heater valve on the block and slightly l...

Re: Windows steaming up.......
Thanks for the response. My car is garaged, albeit unheated and it steams up with just me in the car.
As far as I know, I have no leaks in the heater system and everything seems tight and secure.
I'll try the open window 'trick' the next time I take it out.

Windows steaming up.......
Rather than hijack an existing thread where this topic has been raised, I'm just raising it as a separate issue here. As others have commented, whenever I too put the heater on (standard factory installation on a '62 saloon) at this time of year, the front windscreen mists up quite badly, followed b...

If you dont have a vhs player you might be able to get one from a charity shop or an older relation. If my boys are reading this...…..which they won't be...…..sadly, I've just realised that I am that 'older relation' as I've still got a VHS recorder/player. :D And before anyone asks, no, I don't ha...

Inherited a rescue kitten a few wks back My wife and I did something similar a few years ago. We'd never had a cat before but we agreed to take this last one from a 'breeder' on the strict understanding that a) we wouldn't report her to the RSPCA and b) she would destroy all the disgusting outbuild...

Am I correct in thinking that this 'invention' was a Ford exclusive? If so, not one of Henry's finest was it?Vacuum wipers, the system that wiped the screen slower the faster the vehicle went ?

Re: New member from Essex.
Hello and welcome Jonnie. An early Christmas present to yourself then, eh? If so - like your style :D . Seriously though, as a relative newbie myself and by no manner of means a technical or mechanical expert, I must say I have found the folks on this site (and in person at the NEC Classic Car Show)...

I think the first thing I'd do is the relocate the petrol pipe/filter to the other side of the throttle cable. Looks a bit too close for comfort to me, nestling as it is, right over the manifold.

Re: LED bulbs anyone?
Thank for the info re the solid state flasher and other LED options, chaps. I've checked the 'flashing frequency' (with just the rear LEDs) and it seems normal to me. If I fit LEDs to the front sidelights will my 'flashing**' be at 20 to the dozen then? If so, would I definitely need a s/state flash...

Re: LED bulbs anyone?
Many thanks for your replies and links guys - much appreciated, as ever. I must confess I had an 'orrible thought when I read Phil's post, as I'd never checked if the rear indicators still worked...….but they do! Mine is a late '62 saloon with the 'factory' standard lights/indicator set-up i.e. one ...

Re: LED bulbs anyone?
New rear LEDs arrived yesterday and fitted this morning. Everything written about them is spot on. They are much brighter than the 'originals' and there is a marked difference in brightness for the brake light. Does anyone know if there is something similar available for the front side/indicator lig...

Re: LED bulbs anyone?
Just as a bit of an aside...….I've actually ordered 3 bulbs (2 plus a spare) just now direct from CC LEDs at £6.67 each incl. free postage. Before that I thought it might be easier to order them on eBay so I did a quick search and found the self-same bulbs available from the self-same supplier (CC L...

Re: LED bulbs anyone?
This is the reply I have received from Classic Car LEDs :- ''That style of LED is suitable for rearward and downward facing installations. The light from those LEDs radiates in all directions equally similar to that of an incandescent lamp.'' As you suggest PG, it looks a though they will perfectly ...

Re: LED bulbs anyone?
Phil - sorry, being a bit lazy here (to avoid scrolling through pretty much all of this thread) but are the bulbs you've identified there, a direct replacement for 'standard' bulbs? Specifically, can I just replace my existing bulbs with there on my standard '62 saloon? Many thanks for posting this ...

It's quite a find. There's also a very recent video of another collection found in Lancashire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c15t3ye93gk
How and why do people manage to amass such collections?

Re: Here’s a case
Not just related to classic cars of course but it never ceases to amaze me how, with transactions such as this, there must have been an original contract of sale drawn up in the first place. That contract will have probably cost many, many thousands of pounds, drawn up by a team of highly paid lawye...
