Re: Speedo mileage adjustment
Hmm. Thanks guys. I think I'll probably leave well alone, however Chesney how long would I have to use the drill to clock 50K miles?

Speedo mileage adjustment
I am going to change my speedo for one that I have spare, but this one shows much lower mileage. I want to reset it to match true current mileage. Friends told me 'easy just take the back off and you can get at the numbers' . So you can but only the trip will shift and it would take more time tha I ...

Re: Ignition warning light issue with revving
I have a 1098 with alternator and neg earth and sometimes the warning light is curiously almost working in reverse. The ignition light goes out promptly when the engine starts but sometimes the lamp glows when I drive off and brightens with speed. When drops to idling speed the light goes out again....

Oil pressure too high replies
Thanks for replies and sorry I only just read them so am starting new topic with my answers. The engine is standard sidevalve. When I sold the ALTA head (which was on a different engine) I had to have the standard head refixed on my original engine because I had chewed up the studs trying to get the...

oil pressure
Since I refitted cyl head with new valves etc my oil pressure gauge reads off the clock. What could make it so high?
The bottom of the engine including the oil pump has not been disturbed.

Re: Sloppy pedals.
Thanks Mike and Mog. Where do I buy the bits? Added complication is that looking at parts bible I can see that what I have is LH drive clutch pedal even though car is RHD. This is because the car was originally exported to Belgium and converted to RHD on return to UK. Can also see that the shaft gro...

Sloppy pedals.
My MM pedals are now really sloppy on the cross shaft. What do I have to do to fix this? Where can I get new shaft or at least bushes? I know that the arrangement is different on the 1000's. Can one adapt to that?

Re: Oil pressure
After top end overhaul my gauge reads max cold starting and 70 after a few mins. Then at fast tickover it's 40. Is this OK? I thought pressure release valve would keep it at max 70 cold.

Re: Side valve water jacket
Jonno I have two. An original one which is sound but needs bit of bolt drillling out on one of the dynamo lugs £20 plus p&p or a shiny new pattern one £35 plus p&p. Proceeds to charity. If u like u can collect from Kingston, Surrey but that will cost at least half of one of those tanks of pe...

Thanks Scott. Have bought two more intermotor mechanical switches and a mechanical one. Will keep them in both cars against the next time. Also will probably buy a Hella switch!

Re: Brake light switch
My MGA is not a twincam. It's a standard 1600 which already fitted with a HRG Derrington crossflow head when I bought it. This transfers inlet manifold and carburettor from left to right of engine which creates all sorts of access difficulties. I would not fit one again myself but prefer a tuned up ...

Re: Brake light switch
Mike' I'm initially more interested in fitting the 'mechanical' switch to my MGA because, although it's quite easy to access the 'hydraulic' switch on a minor it's horribly difficult on my MGA because the manifold and carbs of my crossflow cylinder head obscure the switch. (It also covers the igniti...
