Re: Oil still leaking!
Oh I think it takes a while - and hot oil will make a difference too. I have seen very 'gold' coloured oil being drained out of gearboxes many years ago now. My TR7 gearbox was originally specified for EP75 oil - but now they suggest ATF fluid is much better. I'll get round to changing mine some da...

My local moggie dealer has all the keys on a wall rack for trying, Lincoln is a good drive from him,2 hours, perhaps you have a Morris spe...

fuel pump recall "DONT PANIC JONESY"!
Took my faulty brand spanking S.U. fuel pump back to Tom Roy and was informed that a recall is taking place,to such an extent that deliveries are not being made until the issue is sorted. I mention this only so that anyone that may have a new one in the boot as a breakdown spare should check it work...

Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
I know it is probably down to personal preference, but which new tyres do you prefer?I am asking as I have bought a set of new wheels from ESM and I don`t want to fork out for five new 155/80/14 tyres, only to find that they are rubbish! Any tyres to avoid? Send PMs if needed to avoid upsetting the ...

Re: Driving mirrors
Hi Can anyone give me some advise as to which mirror to fit to my Morris? I have looked at various Morris Minors and all seem to have different mirrors - some even have four mirrors. Two on the front doors and two on the front fenders. Believe it or not the Morris dealer would decide which mirrors ...

I googled "morris minor bsf brake light switch" and ESM popped up, they specifically mention bsf, hope that helps, they may be worth a call Dave.C6Dave wrote:The problem is then that all the main suppliers say a BSF one isn't available so may have to look for an Austin one possibly

Re: Iffy fuel pumps
The electronic pumps don't have good reputation - send it back for a refund. The SU 'points' are good for 40/50 years or so without problems - probably long enough ??? Yep long enough, and I have a spare set of contacts somewhere too. I have sent them an e.mail and will return it. I would like to f...

Re: Iffy fuel pumps
Removing the cap is the test..... If you find a vacuum then you need to find out why this is happening...... the cap should have a small breather hole - clear it! Against the odds I am pleased to confirm that after tonights jaunt up and down our local mad 4 mile dash, the Brand spanking fuel pump i...

Re: Iffy fuel pumps
Assuming it is vacuum then taking the filler cap off will not cure it ? should I run the engine with the cap off to equalise the pressure?bmcecosse wrote:Si fractum non sit, noli id reficere.....
Or will I need to turn the engine with the fuel line disconnected from the carb and pump till it flows freely?

Re: Iffy fuel pumps
Why did you change the pump in the first place ? Could be a vacuum developing in the tank - so take it out again, and when it stops nip round to the fuel filler and take it off - listening for an in-rush of air as you do so........ Yes good question, for a man who believes in if it aint broke dont ...

Iffy fuel pumps
Took Doris the Morris out tonight for a quick spin and suffered a weird problem. After a few miles she chugs to a lumpy stop, leave her for literally a minute, start agin and away we go. Chugs to a halt again after a few miles, leave her catch her breath again, start her first time no bother and off we...

Re: brake lights
OK, the plot as they say, thickens. The switch from Tom Roy appears to be the same as the mini one so it's looking like a different 'T Piece' and brake pipe fittings have been used. The new switch only goes in about 1-1.5 turns before it's 'tight' and I don't want to force it in case it strips the ...

Re: Poorly 803
Do a compression check- borrow a compression tester. Your husband's comment about 3 1/2 cylinders makes me think the likely cause of the misfiring is a broken/chipped/burnt exhaust valve. That means the head will have to come off and the damaged valve replaced, After all valves have been ground in,...

Re: oil/water sensors
I would take extreme care - most only work with neg. earth. If I remember correctly the Smiths' is neg. earth. They are sensitive instruments and it could be ruined if you connect it the wrong way, and certainly if you use it for any length of time without a voltage regulator. The capillary one is ...

Spotted in North Yorks. Not sure if it falls in to the category of requiring a round tuit or if its a daily runner? apologies to the owner if the latter, but with the canopy on it was hard to say.[frame][/frame]
