Re: Radiator inlet pipe angle

Thanks for that, The bottom hose is a RAD108 "Radiator Bottom Hose-Reinforced **Early O.H.V Plain Type**" from ESM and I thought was standard for the 948cc without a heater? The radiator elbow is pretty much horizontal and I would have thought it should be pointing slightly downwards since...

Re: Radiator inlet pipe angle

Louise, BMC, thanks for the fast responses. I used the soapy water leak rest and you are correct, the leak appears to be from just above the ledge under the elbow, not the elbow joint itself. There is visual evidence to support this. It may be poor reconditioning by the radiator folks. I'll scrape a...

Radiator inlet pipe angle

Hi all and the best of 2014 to all! :D I filled the radiator this morning and found a leak underneath where the elbow is brazed onto the radiator. You can see a dark vertical colour under this point on the photo. The radiator has obviously been previously reconditioned whilst still owned by the PO, ...

Re: Engine/gearbox "orientation"

OK, so I decided not to wait until tomorrow. Jacked the gearbox up so I could wriggle the brackets & mounts out, then swop left/right & upside down. Took weight off engine mounts with a hoist & the engine gearbox could then slide back to fit the new bracket position. The engine must be a...

Re: Engine/gearbox "orientation"

Thanks for the replies! I've got the gearbox mounts wrong, thanks for pointing that out! I must admit I had some doubt when the gearbox went back in but convinced myself this was the only way they could go! And to make matters even worse I had the parts assembly diagram printed and on my desk...

Engine/gearbox "orientation"

I was worried how the engine/gearbox would go back into the car (1960 4 door saloon), having replaced both chassis legs.... and so was pleased when the assembly aligned itself "perfectly" with the front engine mountings and gearbox cross member mountings. So I sped ahead and assembled all ...

The controller will regulate the voltage and therefore limit the current as the battery becomes fully charged.

Re: Solar panel

Yes, that is more or less correct, I presume you mean 4.5Ah not 4.5A battery.

The actual charging time will vary depending on the state of the battery and other factors.

You don't need a controller as big as 10A, a 2A controller will be fine for 2 panels.

Re: Solar panel

Sandun, I am not an expert, but a 33mA panel will not do much to charge anything really; it may be good enough to maintain charge on a battery (trickle charge) but not much more. The calculations are simple: The panel maximum current will be the charger (regulator/controller) maximum current too; ad...

Re: Introduction from Cape Town

OK, I know this is not a restoration (forum) but here are a few photos on the progress on the maintenance. Here are a few random photos. This is the fun bit, putting clean & shiny parts back onto the Moggy. Had it resprayed a slightly richer blue & chose to go with OEW coach line & wheel...
