Phil Steel stockholders will sell you large sheets of metal, welding supply shops might stock smaller sheets for the DIY' er ( or know where to send you ). Metal frabrication companies are probably a better bet. Get yourself down to the local Trading estate to find one and ask if you can have some of...

Panic over.Did some more welding at my friend's garage today..great weather by the way.... and I questioned him about the missing bits.He had removed them to a place of safety !!
So all the bits have been reunited with the wiper motor, thank goodness.

I'm coming to the conculsion it's been "messed with ". The pin does have a groove Ray.The mounting rubbers and brushes are no problem but the bits that have " found a new home somewhere" may well prove to be the biggegst problem to replace. Another wiper motor to source the three...

Update I stripped down the wiper from my friend's 1966 Morris to find a 150 degree gear wheel. The mounting rubbers were shot and the carbon brushes were down to the holders so need replacing. The surprise for me was that there was no clip, connector and washer on the top of the gear wheel stud. The ...

Jonathon Thanks for the confirmation of 110 degrees sweep angle and thanks to all for their input. Ray had me going round in circles ( 360 degrees ) for a time but I know what to look out for at Beaulieu tomorrow. This forum is great, practical information, plenty of opinions and a touch of humour. ...

Having dismantled a number of Lucas DR series wipers for various cars it is primarily the gearing /sweep angle that dictates whether the wiper is suitable for your particular classic car.Hoping to pick a cheap "spare " for my moggie owner friend at Beaulieu this weekend.

It's a tapped plate... to allow movement..proceed if you are going to ....with extreme caution.
What state is the hinge cover plate in ? Does it need renewing ?
It might be the only way in but some of the experts may have a trick up their sleeves.

Thanks for the quick reply.
The metal springs are in "good health" which is more than be said for the rest of the metal in that area.
A lot of repair sections purchased / fabricated on Friday, cranking up the MIG for some serious action on Monday 8.00 a.m.Weather forecast looking good.

" clip" attachment at bottom of inner wing.

Could someone tell me please, as a newbie, what the funny clip affairs are ? What purpose/ function do they serve ?
Situated at the bottom of the inner wings ( outer wings removed ) by the hinge/ B post covers.

Many thanks

One maker is NGK ,the plug reference number is BP6ES
An internet search will bring up suppliers other than Halfords.Any local car spares place should be able to source them ( or an alternative ) for you.

Others may favour another make.
