Sump gasket

I had the same problem and could not get the rear cork seal to stop leaking after several attempts. I eventually fitted the MG synthetic rubber seal from the Spridget 1275 cc which has to be trimmed down as it is slightly oversize but then fits perfectly. I used a high temperature resistant silicon ...

Seat belt guide

Thanks Ray, I agree with you totally and if I can find a better arrangement I will go for it. I just cannot see how to mount anything on the B post on a convertible that would work, look good and still withstand any real force in the event of a crash. My belt is mounted as given in the workshop manu...

Eyebolt bushes

I'm not sure I believe the 270°C bit myself-perhaps they were doing an Alpine off road rally! Who knows?

Teflon eyebolt bushes

I have just been reading an article about the long time experience with the teflon eyebolt bush kit from Rolf Corbat and I found it quite interesting. It’s posted on the SMMC Swiss morris minor club website-(in German). http://www.morrisminor.ch/ I fitted these bushes to my Moggy over a year ago and...

Seat belt guide

Rich, I have made up a set of brackets as seat belt runners but have not painted them or fitted them yet to my convertible. I also have no idea what the German TÜV (MOT) is going to say so I will make them removable rather than start any discussions. They are made up from 10mm x 1mm box section stee...

Hi Longdog, Was the 123 Dizzy easy to fit and set up? I was considering fitting it to my Moggy. I've read good reports about the smooth running on other cars. Some maintain it even reduces timing chain rattle-any comments? Did you buy it in the UK or direct from 123? Any further info appreciated. Th...

Fuel pump replacement

I would also say that the pump is a Hardi pump branded as QH. I installed one over a year ago and never had a problem since. The only thing I find is that they are noisy and in my case, the bulkhead and battery box act as an amplifier. The solution is to use industrial M6 anti-vibration mounts-see p...

If the rubber is perished you can always use silicon tube. The tube and clips we use for model aircraft tank plumbing can sometimes be very useful. Cable ties can also be of help. I always have some in the car. Sorry the photo is not the best. Declan<br> http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1230229244...

BMC-is this the Manifold you are talking about? What about the water connection-is it to be blocked off?

SU Pump replacement

The Hardi pump is quite a common replacement here in Germany-probably because it's a German product. Not cheap@92€ but good
Have a look at their website.

Pump replacement

I replaced my SU pump due to problems with the "Hardi" electronic pump which is a direct 1:1 replacement. An excellent pump, if at first a bit noisy so I fitted two M6 vibtation mounts. Never had a problem since. Declan <br> http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1227683274_6259 <br><br> http:...

Gearbox oil leak

A drip tray is not in my opinion a solution. Mogwai is quite right when he writes replace the seal. I replaced mine recently when I had the gearbox out to do the crankshaft seal. It still however required a quite a bit of persuasion to remove the old gearbox tailshaft seal. It’s quite a tight fit. Wi...

Dampers

I used a large syringe with a small length of silicon tube to empty most of the oil and then did the bouncing trick-seem to work.
