Re: Engine rebuild

Yes, you need to consider the economics of it all. Sometimes you have to draw the line at some point, check the costs of the options and decide from there. Good luck.

Yes those companies, are worth checking out ———but I thought you had now decided to sell, reading your recent advertisement ?

Re: Engine swsp

As I say, whatever you’re happy doing. You’d easily get a 1275 reconditioned for £1000, simply because you already have the unit.
———— but if you can’t do it yourself or find another company, certainly don’t trust the last place it was rebuild at !!

Re: Engine swsp

I think most would choose the 1275 unit, especially as you have one. Then rebuilding it properly, should cost no more than getting another unit. It depends on your preference, of course.

Re: Engine swsp

I would have thought that gearbox more suitable for the 1275 engine. Although I’m no authority.

Re: we have a problem

Well done in getting those posts, however you’ll have to find another theory to beat the 150 plus posts for the ‘ Can’t get my daughters car to start’ thread !———— and who’s the WE in ‘we have a problem’ ? :D

Re: Engine in bits for a rebore-anything else worth doing?

So right, I had a single fan on a Mini many years ago, for ages I just couldn’t understand where a throbbing noise was coming from, eventually I changed the fan arrangement and all went quiet. Funny how things bring back memories! :D

Re: we have a problem

I still don’t know if this is a serious suggestion or not, however, to add to the silliness ——-——I knew a moon landing would eventually happen, ever since I was a child, on hearing my Mum tell stories about a cow that jumped over it. Hey diddle diddle.

Yes, that’s why I posted, could it be that the manual car will be a thing of the past. ——— and no new drivers to keep the classic car movement going. Mind you, there are many other things that will end that, I suppose.

Automatic

Does anyone know what percentage of driving schools use automatic transmission cars to teach their clients these days ? I’m suspecting it’s quite high.

Re: Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde

I’ve used Waxoyl on two restorations with good results, I know it’s been around for a long time but that’s no bad thing. I suppose I’m saying if something works, you stick to it. All manufacturers claim to be the best ! :D

Phil mentioned the eye bolt, hopefully the area where it passes through the ‘chassis’ leg has not weakened.
