Re: 25th September spares day

Not in the slightest a dig at you Mike, you have my full support for your valiant efforts, I'm just highlighting the lack of support that you get from the rest of the top echelons. Unfortunately the office don't post on the message board Why not, it's hardly difficult to do (so long as the site is ...

Re: What are these holes for?

Not the first time I've seen a SII Engine Bay where the connections to the Starter Pull cross over like that. :-? Goes against my reasoning to cross cables over when installing, you'd think cables would connect to the nearest point, not the furthest. My SII's battery was connected to the nearest con...

Re: Floor & Sill Costs

consulting some local classic specialists
But do they know Minors?
Some 'Classics' no doubt have Body shells available but any Minor shell is surely going to be worth saving in it's own right?
That's why there are such a great selection of floor parts available, there are no shells...

Thanks Les

Re: Accelerator Pedal Location

Here's a question.....just from idle curiosity... What on earth is the 'Toe Board'? I'm currently working on the assumption that since the Minor was clearly in production for decades without changes in that area, any strengthening is purely for those that wish to 'stress' their Minors beyond average...

Re: Bulkhead Bulge

Yes, they were introduced in 1933 but I think the well-heeled motorist still preferred to have a string quartet in the rear seats. :D And you had to have a radio licence (£0-10-0)to operate a car radio fitted in your car. https://api.parliament.uk/historic-hansard/commons/1955/nov/09/car-radio-lice...

How big were Valve radios then?
Huge! About the size of a shoe box for a pair of size 7 or 8.

Were in-car entertainment radios even available in the UK at the time the MM was being designed?
They were available in the USA but then so were in-car record players

Re: Bulkhead Bulge

Why was this bulge in the bulkhead added? You say 'Added' but of course it was always there, so it wasn't added as such, it was in the original design. The Lowlight didn't have the Speedo in the centre, but it still had all the switches and other stuff, and that bulge. So my money is firmly on a th...

Re: Remote brake fluid reservoir

Interesting first question. Welcome to the Forums. A) the Disc conversion requires more fluid because of the size of the caliper pistons, the extra capacity isn't really needed on drum brakes. I don't have discs and have no problem with the standard arrangement. B) The connection is a flexi pipe and...

Re: Bulkhead Bulge

Well only an educated guess, based on decades of working in small spaces on various vehicular modes of transport, but it was space going to waste under the bonnet and the other side is behind the dash.... So simply putting the space where it was needed; where the Speedo, it's drive cable, windscreen...

What do you mean by 'top of the Banjo'? banjo.jpg Borrowed this original image from an old topic about 10 years ago. If it's coming out here as arrowed, then the problem is clearly the bleed nipple. Re: Bogus seats!

I had no idea that seats with sliding runners were available let alone being fitted with wooden blocks. Surely that would compromise the safety of the vehicle in a collision?  You do realise that it was the 60s and you're in an era with unprotected fuel tanks*, no crumple zones, no colla...
