RE: Re: RE: saint rod of weld

Any tips for when you are lying under the car welding those patches!!!! on.
A welders apron is a must and I have found that by getting a good close fitting overlap the weld bead will flow well.

Oil for Dampers

It would appear that the advice is to change oil in the dampers with suggestions from 20/50 to m/c fork oil.

Which then is the "specified " oil and which grade of oil will prove the best for a "daily driver"? Why is it necessary to change the oil anyway???

Exhausted

Whilst re-doing the exhaust pipe/manifold joint I was wandering if there is a more efficent silencer that is worth fitting to a standard 1098cc Minor? Owen Burton used to recommend a Midget silencer. I am not interested in a particularly "sporty" note nor in retaining the "Minor"...

I have no intention of spraying 2 pack! Although I have come across garages that spray 2 pack in an open workshop after everyone has gone home for the day,but they did use an air-fed mask. Nevertheless the use of an isolator would appear to save work. I shall probably try some on one of the panels t...

Isolator

Has anyone experience of using isolator when there is a reaction between the old paint and the new when being sprayed? Isolator is £13.62 per litre from the local paint factor and using this seems a lot easier than stripping back to bare metal. Advice much appreciated from those that have used this ...

Thanks everyone for your replies with the minimum of jargon! It seems all my speakers have an impedance of 4 ohms. If anyone comes across a Volvo 340 then the speakers in the front doors have a wedge shape mount which can be easily removed to fit in the scuttle card under the glove box on a minor wh...

Try and contact Pete and Mary Hall who should be able to give you further info. They used to organise the MMOC MOT every year and have now moved to France. Old editions of Minor Matters have carried stories of where they are and I know they they took 1or 2 Mogs with them.

Any brilliant ideas to extend lfe of heater taps? They either leak or don't switch off, it's been a bit warm over the last few days! For the time being I'm going back to the brass tap.
