update update ! well it looks like the redex additive is doing the job , i have done over 100 miles today and my car has never run so smoothly even in traffic and several hot restarts its perfect

another update .its still running fine and i have put some redex lead additive in the fuel just to help so i am leaving it well alone

my car developed a tinny rattle at idle which i traced to old exhaust paste in side the silencer which must have fell in when i took the down pipe off , it sounds like the cars about to fall apart !!

quick update its running fine , it had a reasonable run this eve and its a hot day but no issues , the plot thickens

i pressed them in using a similar tool i made to get the correct dept , i didn't ream them as they had just permissible clearance , i am 100 % sure it/'s the mismatch of materials , checking with mini spares they say unleaded spec exhaust valves must use bronze or other alternatives to the cast ones...

question answered they are cast iron guides the same the ones i replaced ,cylinder 3 was / is the culprit it makes sense now

i just had the same . i called the dvla and it appears if the v5 change of details has entered the system it voids the green slip so you have to wait , i guess if you tax it when you buy it it's ok

it was the return springs gone weak although only 5 years old they were so soft compared to the new ones, fitted them on and all is fine ,

master new .all brakes adjusted master cylinder push rod all fine the fault just appeared its a regular in use car

its had new hoses and cylinders cleaned / new seals [ only 2 year old lockheed ] i have ordred new springs

yes it definitely the master holding them on i just loosened the feed pipe to the front t union let the pressure go and the wheels spin free press pedal once and they are staying on , the piston in master returns fully and pedal has correct free play so i guess its the return valve

hi i am sure its my master cylinder failing but i thought i would run it by the forum 1955 s2 fitted 8'' front brake otherwise std , 100 % perfect brakes last 4 years but last week left front started binding slightly i changed the brake hose but no luck now after bleeding both the fronts are binding...
