Re: Showers at the national.

Wimp! How many others remember when camping was first available at a National Rally - when it really WAS camping? One went clean, had a couple of washes (maybe) & spruced up when back home. One member (no name given, shouldn't mock the departed) woke everyone else up several times during the ni...

What ever it is ,it is certainly rather expensive in that condition. Would be cheaper to buy one in Australia and ship back !!

MORRIS VEDETTE 918CC ENGINE

Just picked up for club spares a complete Vedette marine engine based on a USHM3 block which when stripped of its marine bits should provide the basis of an engine for an MM. Had thought about putting it in my car but cannot work out where to attach the drive shaft and propeller on an MM !!! Serious...

Re: Build changes 1954

Anyone thought of the obvious. That the car has been cloned with an earlier logbook to enable a reg number transfer ?? Or it was reshelled sometime after Oct 54.
I did buy an early cheesegrater grilled Traveller once which someone had fitted a later dash to.

CLUB PROJECT CAR

The club has just bought a 49 saloon to restore in time for the 40th anniversary of the club's formation in 2016 when it will probably be "rebuilt" on the club stand at the NEC. The shell is very sound having been restored in the past to a good standard. The bare shell surrounded by boxes ...

Mike, pictures of my 1951 gear Knob are below. Re: MM Gearboxes

Hello Mike, I have a MM gearbox that I bought with the 8/43 axle, I will check the speedo drive pinions on both gearboxes and see what is what!! Thanks Iain. Could the MM axle with the 5.375 diff ratio actually be one from an early Series 11 which used the same axle casing? MM speedos are 1600 tpm,...

Re: Series II Engine Size?

Problem with the 803 'screw on' filter is that new filters available today have TOO LARGE a hole in them - and since they are 'by-pass' filters this drops the oil pressure too much..and the crank bearings (hard to get and expensive) quickly give up. So if doing this - unless you have a stock of new...

Lucas 482 were also fitted to US spec MGTD and repros are available from MG specialists in the US but are not cheap. We have a couple of genuine 482 lenses in the club stocks but they are £25 each.

We have several new parts for the MM engine in the club stocks. Heard from your friend in Kings Lynn about the gearbox. He is coming to see me in May.

Re: 49 Tail lights

So, from what I can garner from your replies. The chassis number itself is not a definate way of finding the spec of any one vehicle? I like the earlier lamps and would prefer the car to be correct, that said I was quite happy when I thought it should have the later type. It's really the wifes car ...

Re: 49 Tail lights

Contact David Greenslade, president of the Canterbury Minor Club in Christchurch. He has an early 49 lowlight fitted with 488 lights and knows a lot about the early cars imported into NZ.
Good luck.

Hi Louise, Thanks for this, i will get in contact with them. (but in the interim if anyone does know please advise). Many Thanks I am not aware of any Morris having a wooden chassis. There used to be several 14/6 etc in our local scrapyard and they were all steel chassis - long gone now though. A u...

Re: Cheesegrater traveller question

When I handed over the register to Mark in the 1990s there were around 20 cheesegraters and 200 later ones on the lists but even at that point some of those had ceased to exist. I know Mark tried to start again from scratch via appeals for info in Minor Matters but had little response initially. Now...

BLOCK WATER INLET CASTINGS

These are normally made of alloy and can corrode badly. Have just found in my shed some cast iron version that came off the army engines I got from Switzerland several years ago. If anyone needs one please phone or email me. Also found lots of other small MM bits that have been in back of my shed fo...

Chris, the plate cam in a folder, the engine bay is mostly striped of paint as it's an abandoned resto project, so no primer is left but when I looked where the plate should go, where later cars take the body no plate there are 2 holes which fit the bmf plate I was given and the body number plate h...
