Re: Any tips for a new member?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Check the Moss Europe website where you can get a free parts catalogue with all the drawings of what part goes where, right down to the last nut and bolt. You can purchase from Moss or one of the other suppliers like ESM or Charles Ware. 😁

Re: Registration origins

My old Series 2 Jethro had his Scottish registration number SSJ 358 allocated when he was rebuilt in the late 90s....and he was extremely desirable! 😁

Bonnet pull conversion

Hi all,
Having pulled my shoulder muscles on more than one occasion reaching under the dash to fumble around amidst the wires for the bonnet pull rod, I've decided to replace the rod with a cable and dash knob from an MG. Has anyone carried out this conversion? :-?

Re: Ammeter stud thread

Turns out that the clamp stud threads on the Smiths Ammeter are 3ba.
Not sure if it's the same for all instruments though. πŸ€”

Re: Seat webbing

I found the easiest way to fit the straps was to locate the hooks in the holes on one side then grip between the other hooks with a pair of pliers and pull the strap towards you until the hooks locate. Works a treat!😁

Re: Seat webbing

The diaphragm will probably require new hook holes to be drilled in the seat frame as the hole spacings are different.
I personally prefer the straps as they are easier to fit and easy to replace should it be required. :D

Ammeter stud thread

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me the thread size of the fixing studs on the back of a Smiths 30 0 30 ammeter so I can get some nuts?

Re: Ebay lunacy!

Very good points, the chrome plating on original parts is usually far superior to the replacements you buy today.
Decided to pay a bit more and managed to get both pairs for Β£90.
Will let you know if they live up to the quality expected!

Ebay lunacy!

Hi all, I was watching some boot and bonnet hinges on Ebay which although stored for years were in very good condition. Just for an experiment I bid them up to near full retail price for new units. Sure enough the bids went straight past the cost of new hinges including gaskets from ESM............ ...

Re: The smell

The only car my Dad ever owned when he came out of the army after WW2 was an old Hillman Minx in which we used to visit my Grandparents in North London. The car was polished every week and I can still remember the smell of engine oil, leather and Johnson's Turtle Wax to this day. Our Series 2 Minor ...

Re: Bargain tyres?

That's true, I have seen cars stored for over 50 years emerge into the sunlight with the tyres still up to pressure without a sign of deteriorating. On the flip side l remember my 68 Ford Anglia being fitted with new tyres at one of the original Kwikfit centres in 1975 and having them replaced after...
