Re: Neg vs Pos earth
Our Traveller is negative earth. No issues as long as the conversion has been done right. Do you have a dynamo or an alternator? The former would have needed its polarity changed (easily done I believe). The only time it really matters is if you add extra kit which is polarity sensitive e.g. a radio...

Re: Car dehumidifiers
What panky says. I was getting water running down just behind the 'B' pillar on the passenger side when it rained. I ran a drill through all the holes in the channel and through the wood, and made sure all the aluminium swarf and burrs were removed and it never happened again.

Re: Car dehumidifiers
How timely. For many years I have used a pair of these in the Mazda MX5 that gets left outside all the time, one in the cabin and one in the boot, to combat condensation. They do the job very well but it does take time to dry them out before you can re-use them, which is why it is recommended that y...

We have the same as Philip in our 1959 Traveller. They came with the car and are still good after 12 years.

What about a pair of slip joint pliers? You might get a better grip than with the Mole grips.

Have you tried SU themselves? I'm sure they would be able to help you. They will want the exact details of which pump you mave.

I agree. As Land Rover says - "One Life. Live it".MorrisJohn wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 9:12 am Something is going to kill you one day. Life is for living. Just drive it sensibly.

If it's anything to do with ignition then I would speak to Distributor Doctor - http://www.distributordoctor.com/

Re: Do you guys feel safe driving your Moggy??
We are aware that we are vulnerable in the Traveller and through choice we tend to stick to minor roads and out of rush hour, although that is no guarantee nothing will happen to us. If we have someone driving close behind we will pull over and let them get on with it and we are always conscious of ...

I have attached a picture of our 1959 Traveller. Our pivot point seems to be further away from the radiator bolt than yours and less of the arm can be seen protruding from the hole. Even when our lever is fully retracted the arm doesn't come close to the bolt head. I notice that you have a cross-hea...

Rimmel used to do an I Love Lasting Finish Exotica 61 nail varnish which was a good match but it doesn't look like you can that any more either.

Re: Help for a newbie
I would also buy a Haynes Manual for the Morris Minor 1000. More than adequate for the basic stuff if you are not familiar with the car. Don't buy a brand new one as, based on experience, the print quality may not be great. Find an older one online, in an antique or book shop, or at a car show for a...

Ours was negative earth when we bought it. Never had any problems although I doubt I would have bothered changing it if it had been positive earth.

It's looking good. I do like the colour, as well as your extra dials in front of the driver. Very neatly done. It'll be great to see it finished and on the road.

Re: Thinking about my future with my Morris Minor
It depends where you get your pleasure from. I have a friend who does cars up, drives them for a while and then sells them on to fund the next project. That's how we got our Morris Traveller. It's unlikely he even covers the cost of the parts let alone his labour, but he gets great pleasure from doi...
